just got 3.4 in!!!
just got a 3.4 out of a 93 firebird. I had to use the intake off of my old engine and put the distributer cap in. i used the 3.4 injecters though
theres not that much mre power than the 2.8 if not cant eben tell. if anybody has any questions ill tell you anything on this swap. Oh...one more thing, i need to know if you can make the engine run like a stock 305 or not, and if so what kind of mods?

No change???? Have you checked compression???? What's your timing at??? The difference when I did the swap was night and day by a long shot. Sounds like somthing didn't go quite right, or you got a weak motor. A torque difference of 40 ft lbs is very much "feelable", you should be able to burn the tires down easily....Oh yeah, and it should be at least as fast as a stock 305 now.
using the old 2.8 manifold you lose some of that extra from the 3.4. i did this install on an s-10 with a 2.8 to a 3.4 and there was no diffrence there either because i had to use the stock intake and it just choked it down.

I did seafoam and motor flush on my 3.1 and it feels all kinds of faster, I probably gained 5tq if that and it just feels faster, neverming a 40lb jump.

unless you do some serious mods to the 3.4 intake, you have to use the 2.8/3.1 intake.
oh, and congrats on the swap

When i did the 3.4 swap in the blazer TBI I dident notice much power difference. I could smoke the tires after the swap but that was the only increase and it was a new GM perfromance parts 3.4L crate engine to boot.
I'd check the timing all the basic stuff mentioned above.
When I built my brothers 3.4 for his 95/96 camaro we did quite a bit of porting on the intake, cam upgrade power max and installed the pace setter system with a dual outlet muffler. It will spank a stock 305 no problem.

Lenght of time for swap?
Oh Please
Some can have this done in several hours/one long day.
Me?
I try to take time & be through, so not to have to dive back under hood to correct smething I missed first time the engine was outta car.
I am going back in to correct oil leaks & slip on new chain/tensioner/balancer snout sleeve.
You know the answer to this question way better than anyone else.
PS Big clues...
Read my swap tech thread, buy all parts ya can ahead of time, rebuild/install new stuff on engine prior to installation. With current engine in car, make sure ALL those sensors/functions operate correct. Less guessing after the engines are swapped.
Through Planning before ya pick up a wrench is very clean work.
