I once had a 84 2.8, the o2 sensor was in the exhaust manifold on the passenger side if I remember correctly.

well, here's a thought. was the car originally sold in canada? if so, you might not have an O2. do you have wiring going to the carb?

if you can't look at the carb an see a wiring harness to it, then you don't have a computer controlled carb, which means that you don't have an O2 sensor.

From what i understand, and TomP seems to have confirmed...1985 was the first year for computer controlled 2.8L V6, which means taht you don't have an O2. If you did, it's not gard to find, just after the y-pipe joins the 2 banks together. there is a single wire connected to it and it is just before the CAT.

Computer controlled 2.8's were used first back in like 1980 or so, BUT I remember a few posts way back where Canadian F-bodies did not use feedback carbs. If the carb doesn't have a mixture solenoid on it, then it isn't a feedback carb and shouldn't have an o2 sensor.

just as an update on information. I saw a federally certified 1983 carb'd 2.8 yesterday and the O2 is in the passenger side manifold if equipped. You can look right down and see it. Chances are that you don't have one since it would be painfully obvious if it were there.
