What happened?

Ok this is my first 92 3.1 camaro so I dont know what is going on. I did a minor tunup on my car (cap, rotor, plugs and wires) and I modified my air filter canister by cutting a wider hole for it to intake air from. I checked the timing and it appeared to be at 12btdc witch I figured would be ok even though it should be 10. Now when I hit the gas the car seems to vibrate some and seems to struggle to get up to speed what happened is it getting to much air? Maybe I should also mention that I reset the computer after my tuneup. thanks in advance for any ideas.

All of a sudden? Right after a tuneup makes me think that it is somthing that I did.

Did you gap everything correctly? maybe you have a loose connection i know that i have issues putting my #1 spark plug wire back on.

Check yor pug wires and make sure the connections are tight. Did you gap the spark plug right, sometimes they can get bent in when you install them. chack all your vacume hoses and make sure they are all connected sometimes the can come off when working around them. If it ran fine before with that timeing then that shouldn't be the problem. These are just some suggestions hope it will help you out.

You crossed some wires bud. Bust out a GM manual, and triple check the wires one by one. good luck

Yes it ran fine before the tuneup now it has an issue the spark plugs are ac delcos gapped to .45 and all the vaccume lines are ok.

Did you reuse the stupid heat shields? I took mine off because they made a cool light show off the block and made my car run like crap. Did you use new plug wires? Maybe when takeing them off you could have damaged one of them slightly. I know my # 3 Cyl is prone to melting the wire.

Yeah, I agree with digital85, push the wires up to feel the click on the sparkplug head. If the car was running fine before that tune up, it must be unplugged wire(s) , the dist cap did not fit well on dist; or rotor is not in the right place, try to push it down. The last thing could be (if) you did not take care of marking down every cylinder to avoid mixed wires.

Or possibly needing to reset the IAC. He did state teh he reset his ECM. Reset teh ECM again, pull the neg battery cable for about 5 min. then reconnect. Turn the car on and let idle for about 10 min. Then turn it off an repeat a second time. Turn car off and then back on and take it for a drive to the nearsest freeway. Drive on the freeway at about 55 - 65 MPH for about 10 min. Exit freeway and do some citty driving for about 10min. Don't gas the hell out of it, just take off normally from stop lights and stop signs.

After exiting the freeway you should notice that it has gotten better. While driving around the city streets you should notice it getting better every time you take off.

This is why I hate reseting the ECM, and will do most electrical work with a live electrical system. Some times I have to replace fuse, but I avoid have to go through this crap.

All though it does appear to do my Camaro some good to reset it once a year. It just seems to get better gas mileage and run smother if I do it once a year.

All ways keep the simple answer in mind!

Cool. Glad it was a simple fix!!! I know I hate having to work my car in the winter.

The same thing happened to me when I bought AC Delco plugs. with in 1 day I had 2 plugs crack in half. Only thing holding them together was the spark plug wire boot. Haven't bought AC delco's since and haven't had any problems.
