why is it not recognized?

I was sitting back listening to people talk about fast cars and what they have or would like to have. Not once did i hear anyone say anything about a Iroc z28 or a Formula GTA Bird. Why is this car not being recognized as a muscle car or one of the sportiest of all time? Is it because its not old enough or people were not that intrested in them like mustangs? I hear about the first gen camaros and bids but not the third gen. Im even hearing things aout the SS camaro more than the third gen. I mean dude the camaro and Birds has to be a classic or, does the third gen need more time?

I'd say yes, as they ARE gaining in price/popularity... I'd also say that sadly, the thirdgen is the BEST HANDLING (with the WS/6 78-81 a TIGHT 2nd) FBody of all time... Unfortuneatly, it's also the slowest, overall. Sure, the later 2nd gens came off the showroom slower - but if you can't make 400ci of Pontiac power push you into the 13s with EASE, then give up on cars.

third gens are the overall slowest, and one of the fastest too.
Some people liken them the the mustang II and try to forget the "dark years" of the 4cyl f-fody.

The problem is that people believe that a muscle car is one from middle 70s up to a hot rodded Ford A, I would like to get a muscle car like a BMW M5, it is not old at all, but people do not take it as it is, they take the newest cars as sport cars.

by definition, a thirdgen is not a muscle car, nor is any of the cars of today. the biggest engine a thirdgen came with was a 350. muscle cars are categorized as the old late 60s and 70s cars with large displacement engines, little or no accessories, not flashy or fancy, just raw power meant for tearing up pavement. a BMW M5 is not my any means a muscle car, no offense. its amazing the things you learn when you actually pay attention in college, lol.

So if chevy & pontiac was going to come out with the thirdgens, why didnt they give it the reputation as the 02 SS or the new birds as far as suspention and power to keep themselves known for making fast and good looking sports cars? I must say, if a person does the right things to their thirdgen, they very very much so look better than a lot of sports cars today. OH and about that M5, is it realy faster or pushing out more horses than a carera or 911?

Yeah, the 3rd-4th gen f-bodies are referred to more as "pony cars" than muscle cars. Same goes with the Mustangs from those years...

I'd love to have a '67 Firebird, bright orange, with a 400 and a white convertible top...
