Thanks for the diagram, But.. A peice on my carb looks like it needs either a Plug or a vacum hose and im trying to trace where the vacume hose would go (assuming it needed a vacum hose) The way i know it has a vacum is that i jerry rigged a plug with some vacum hose and an bolt and put it on the piece, which inturn cased my car to recieve better miles per gallon... Ill post a pic as soon as i can

I can only toss this out.
Your carb should work exactly as pictured.
I have a federal version 2SE carb on my Blazer & the hose set up/picture is slightly different.
For your answer the best may be to scour wrecking yards to seek duplicate of your carb and copy that one to see if anything missing. Any FWD X body car & Lumina & clones up to 1984 will work. They all ran same carb/intake as the F Body. Blazer/S-10 trucks up to 1985 also same as your F Body. Good luck, pretty area for driving.

And with it plugged, I am no means an expert on carbs and engine's so if this is a piece that is supposed to be there then it must be defective or something...

Look at the diagram
See those two items next to carb on LEFT?
Well, There ya go!
Vacuum break pots.
Expensive.
I've been quoted high costs for those things.
Mine leak, no big deal tho. They operate under certain conditons not used when engine warmed up.
For smog check, insert object into the vacuum line & connect as should be. Block the air flow to the leaky part & all is well.

That's the primary vacuum break for I believe choke & such.
Your set up is made up of solinoids controlled by "computer". And lots of vacuum hoses. That part plays in cold operation conditions as does back one (on carb) going to air cleaner (I believe).
It would be good thing to use this diagram & rebuild your hoses set up, best ya can. You may be surprised how much smoother becomes the idle & possible slightly better performance. Which also increases the longevity of engine life.
Be aware, you can slip a 3.4 under your hood pretty easy! AND fool smog police. I have. Here is a pic of my 3.4 under the carb. Only problem is creating a fuel pump set up for this engine as it has no provision for mechaincal fuel pump. Rest is mix & match & put back under the hood. Your pump solution is to find the TBI fuel pump in tank set up & install, use a regulator to bring pressure under 6PSI & enjoy your ride in the hills of Northern California.
Lucky! I miss those rides.

I was thinking of running my 2.8 until it dies which hopefully wont be for a while, atleast until i can rip out all the smog crap at the 30 year mark, which is still the mark in cali right? at which point im gonna put at least a 5.0L v8 in

THAT'S A BIG NO ON THE 30 year deal!
The stop point is 1977!
Anything after 1977 is still smogged & such.
Anything prior ya home free on & they always trying to screw that deal, too!
But serious, they stopped that 30 year deal because of "things".
That's also why I slipped in a 3.4 mill into my Blazer, it was easier & will do all I need to do!
IF ya wanna V8 ride buy it while it's cheap! Cause the Third Gens in price will be accelerating very shortly! Even us lowly V6 IF proper & in nice shape.

your vents are cable controlled (i think). the ones in my 86 are cable controlled. you need to pull the center section of your dash apart and reconnect the cables on the back of the HVAC control unit. more then likley there mounting points are broken, you may have to hit the bone yards and see about replacing the cable ends. they are plastic and seem as though they could break.

my 88GTA is vaccume controlled. however it has the electric HVAC controlls on the dash. i wish i had a diagram for it, if those ever go out i am scewed. i would have to convert to cable.

Micali, that just plain didn't work.

Autozone.com, click "Repair info", then "Vehicle repair guides". You might have to tell them what kind of car you have (if you haven't already)
