New 3.4 Crate Cam lobe wiped out

After a few run in miles a cam lobe wore out, 80-90% worn,
anyone else have a problem like this with this engine the 3.4L 60* V6 crate engine

Thx

dont think anyone else here used the crate as a 3.4 swap. It was usually the s10 peps that used the crate engine as a base. May want to join some of them and ask.

How well did that cam work on an mpfi setup?

I would make sure you speak to a GM REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE about this issue.
No one, here, having installed used 3.4 report that problem. AND I never recall reading about the cam wearing out on a 60* engine. New GM cars with V8 of the 70's, it was an issue.
That stinks.
I am so sorry to hear about this.
PERHAPS you may be able to get another new GM crate engine.

Really reach high for this issue to be solved.

The cam was also made by CRANE CAMS in FLA. I'd also speak to them about this. 904-258-6174
Hope this will lead you to a settlement of this issue.

Hi Dale, KED85

Put the Holley 390 4 brl. on the engine. it only had about 70 miles on the engine when this happened with the cam.

Big let down, The engine was going in a car that is less the half the weight of a Camaro.

I told my guy to let GM know that I want a new engine.

My understanding is that these crate engines do carry a warranty.
Next engine make it better!
YET after all those pics, so hard to see how!

No, my GMPP 3.4 (S10) dident have any problems with internal engine parts. One thing you need to watch out for on the warrenty issue is your 4bbl. They may say it was over fueling, had to much gas in the oil and lost lubrication.

Change the oil run it for 10 minutes then pull it and ship it back.

GM wiill replace the cam and all lifters. and will let the shop that has the car do it, not the dealer.

How does that sound to all

not to bad. I would see if their is a way to flush the oil out to make sure no debris is in the system.

I would have the engine completly torn down, cleaned and then rebuilt/reassembled.
Send out heads for "rebuilding and have 3-way cut finish" put on the valves.
Get GM to pay for the labor costs, GM supplies parts.
This way of total rebuild (or complete tear down, take your pick of terms), the oil passeges WILL be flushed out. One cannot truly flush out oil passages with block in car. And there are oil passages in the crank shaft, too.
ALSO get new oil pump in deal. Include new pump pick up screen, too. Metal could have gone into that, also.
Lucky, new engine and quick problem. This resolve of he problem the engine will last a very long time!
