i think the black outs really make the car. just something about the stock tail lights that i don't like. the tips actually make the car a little quiter, i thought it would do the ladder. i'm getting a lot of questions about the 350 it does not have in it now, so its a little embarrassing telling them its a sixer, but hey, all show no go never hurt anybody right?

Aggp.....I never had anyone ask me if it was a 350, but plenty asked me if it was a 305... I kinda laughed....

87: Where in the 9's? Cause low 9's is 14's.....and there's only maybe two V6s that I can think of offhand that are cracking 14's, and they're both very un-stock.....

Hell, 9.9 calculates out to a 15.4, which is still a little hard to believe..... My old automatic six (3.1, not 2.8) did a best of 17.1 stock, and 16.48 with a full tuneup, plugs, wires, intake, and a high flow cat and catback.

I'd really like to see a timeslip cause that's a little far-fetched from reading another post about your car being about stock. No insult intended, I've just met a bunch of desktop dyno-jockies who think they know what their car will do without ever having made a single pass.

Most of the guys who ask are older guys in my neighborhood who don't really know about the different models and just assume its the 350 V8. I'd have to agree, I only have heard of alan and doward doing 14's. And alan's car is no where near stock, and doward's is turboed. Just hard to believe is all. Prove us wrong with slips .

okay let me clear this up right now, last run of the night at jax raceway, the clutch grenaded just after the 330ft mark, i was running a firebird 4th gen that was running 8.8's all night, i had a reaction on a pro tree of .980 he had a reaction of 1.016 i ran a 2.327 60, i ran a 60 of 2.401 i ran a 330 of 2.631? (slip is at home so they are close but not exact), he ran a 330 of around 2.783. i went to hit second and the clutch blew and took out the pressure plate. he finished his run at i believe it was like 8.846 at around 78MPH he was gonna beat me, no doubt about it, but not more than about .3 seconds. when i hit second, the car goes, i loose some accel when i hit 3rd, but not much. keeping up those split times, it equals to a low 9 second run. that was the fastest the car has ever run. i do have the slips from the rest of the night and i was running around 10.6 all night except for that last run. the car was reving alot faster(i believe the clutch was barely slipping that run before it blew)than normal, i did not spin at all coming off the line unlike all the other runs i had made all night, i have yet to see the car reach the finish line, on a 9 second run but it is safe to say due to my split times that the computer printed out at the track. i have alot of tuning done to the motor that i won't tell anyone what i did. i understand your scheptacism, if i didn't see the slip and have to tow the car home, i wouldn't have believed it eithor. there were many poeple at the track that day that saw it, and they all will attest to the car hauling a$$ off the line all the way to the point that the clutch fragged. alan is running a auto car, doward is running a manual (stock engine) turbo. auto cars loose more power through the tranny than a manual, that is common knowledge, i don't have to run as much horse power as alan to keep up with him, infact numbers have proved that i can run his times with 5% less horsepower than him on a car set up exactly the same as his(as mine is pretty much the same setup as his)with that said, i am running about 190 horse and 210 TQ do the math and i think that you will find that at the rear wheels we are running within about 10% of eachother.

well, if you're doing those times, then contrats man i however, am not. I fear taking the car to the track only for the humiliation of pulling up to the slip stand and being handed a 16.89 1/4 mile time. When I was young and stupid I had a 2001 Celica GT-S, I thought I would be running 14's because the car looked fast, and I had a CAI. I ran the car and pulled a 17.01, I was in disbelief and the slip lady made fun of the car, lol, sad day for me to realize it takes torque as well as hp to make a car quick. By the way it was an auto, 6-spds run 14.9-15.4. I know that I'll eventually run it, but I'd like to finish my modifications. I guess I should do it before to compare times though.

Personally, I can not stand the lloks of the exhaust routings hanging down and out the back of our cars under the bumper.

There is no designated exit point for the pipe or tips to route in the body panel. I have always hated the looks of any 3rd gen from the rear because of the exhaust showing.

I am going with a single tucked turndown as much out of sight as possible without exiting too far underneath the chassis to get drone.

Thankyou.

I should clearify because I sounded a little harsh in my first post about the tips. They look far better than anything stock. I like the looks of them much better than just the plain old ugly steel pipes on mine currently.

I just can seem to find a great way to get that racey umph look to the exhaust out the rear of the axle without it hanging under the bumper like all third gens come from the factory

Something along the lines of this coming out the side of the car just in "front" of the rear wheel on the gound effects rocker. But just not possible, no room.

I have even toyed with the idea of a double wall SFC with the inner wall being the exhaust pipe, but again no room for large enough diameter pipe due to ground clearance.

oval pipes, ahhhh, i dunno. i really do like the look of the fat 3 1/2 chrome pipe sticking out the back end. Makes it look intimidating.

I'm thinking next time, run it over the axle as stock, turn to drivers side. In a muffler (single), out the other side of the muffler as a single, and dump it right then.

I picked up the engine on friday, and I'm getting the parts removed and getting prepped for the swap. I don't think I'll be doing the swap for a little while, at least not until the end of july. I've got a cherry picker lined up, but I need to find a place to store the car while I'm swapping everything out. I'm figuring at least a good solid week is gonna be needed to do everything. Don't worry KED, you'll be getting swap questions soon enough!!!

i personally have seen a camaro with side pipes like on dean's vette, and i have seen a camaro with dual side exit exhause, the dual side exit exhaust looked verry agressive, and i think are possible to duplicate using cherrybombs without having any clearance issues. the dual side pipes looked dumb and out of place. next time i see the guy i will take pics of them so you can see what i am talking about. i know he used the sidepipes off a old vette. i really have no idea how the other guy got side exit exhaust to work without ground clearance issues or bouncing against the bottom of the car.
