Holy **** Read This Now - Make This Sticky!!
There is a recall on (at least) the '88 2.8 V6 Camaros -
Make : CHEVROLET Model : CAMARO Year : 1988
Manufacturer : GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 90V115000 Recall Date : JUN 06, 1990
Component: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: DELIVERY: HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS
Potential Number Of Units Affected : 29331
Summary:
FUEL FEED HOSES MAY PULL OUT OF THE CRIMPED COUPLING AT THE ENGINE END OF THE HOSE ASSEMBLY.
Consequence:
IF THIS COUPLING SEPERATED, ALLOWING GASOLINE TO LEAK,AND AN IGNITION SOURCE IS PRESENT, AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE COULD OCCUR.
Remedy:
INSTALL A REDESIGNED FUEL FEED HOSE.
Notes:
SYSTEM: FUEL FEED HOSES.VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER CARS WITH 2.8L V6 ENGINES.
Any one else aware of this??

But you know GM. Probably several other cars and years have that crappy hose. Just the required [say] 1000 caught fire to send out a recall. 3-4 fire reports don't qualify.

if you call the GM dealership and give them the last 8 of your VIN they can run it on GM VIS. itll only take a second and will tell you if there are any open recalls. otherwise IM me w/ the last 8 and i can do it too, i work at a chevy dealership

i would say that anyone who didnt run into the nearest dealer the day they got that notice in the mail is a total moron. or a pyro who wouldnt mind driving with the car on fire.
