Tried 2 do this but the crank turns need advice.

I tried to take of the harmonic balancer pully bolts but the crank turns as im doing it. What do I need to do to stop the crank from turning. Is there somthing that I need to put there to stop it from turning so i can take all the bolts off? also does any one have instructions on how to use the installer?

Since you have a 700R4, take the convertor dust cover off, and stick a big screwdriver in one of the holes in the flexplate. Position the hole between the oil pan flange and the pan itself, stick the screwdriver in there (this better be on the driver's side, BTW), and remove the damper bolts.

Will I have to drop the transmision to do this? whats the hard part about doing this? I guess my question is, how do I get to the flex plate?

The dust cover over the bottom of the transmission bellhousing, behind the oil pan...just pull the cover off and the flywheel and tq converter are accessible.

You could use a piston-stop if you wanted to but you'd have to buy one...Maverick's idea works just as well.

Take some newish cotton rope, take out a spark plug, and feed it into the cylinder, making sure to get a lot in there. Turn the engine till it stops. when you get the bolt off, crank the engine the other way and pull out the rope. Squirt a bit of oil in the cylinder, and your set. They cotton fibers will burn off as soon as you fier up the engine. Much cheaper then a piston stop... you probably have some rope laying around

edit- I use this on 2 strokes.... take it as you will

Good tips and allways use cotton rope / string.

or a ratchet and a solid smack by your hand or worse case scenario, a hammer (just on the ratchet!). sudden, solid hits will knock the bolts loose without turning the crank so much.
