What if I were to put a hole in the lines that come off the PCVs and plug them so that none of the stuff coming out would end up going through the intake again. If I did it right, I could make it look like everything still works, aka pass a visual. Would I suceed in lowering intake temps/increasing power any?

No, you would do quite the opposite.

If you live in a smog check zone don't bother. But the PVC system does dumb some nast crap into your intake. Had mine off once and was shocked at all the crude in the sucker.

Took bunch of funky shaped brushes n chemicals to get it clean.

Since I am in a smog free zone first thing I did was a PVC fresh air mod. PVC dumps into a fancy little blue filter and not my intake anymore.

Actually I forget which catalog I got it from. But I did get robbed in a way. Pic made the filter look 30x its size in catalog. Didn't think it was hugh but not so small. But it came in handy. Used it for a while as a cankcase vent on a motorcycle then on the car.

Basically same thing as when V8 guys put them filter in the valve cover. Lets the top end gasses n junk vent free. The filter keep the engine from sucking in dirt.

Gumby, if you can remember anything about where you got the filter, or even what its called/ what size it is, that would be awesome. Does it slip right on? if so, even though I dont think it would be legal, Ill just take it off when I go to get it inspected. Thanks

I don't remember crap and yes it didn't fit but was easily made to fit.

Used the tip off a small cheap funnel. You can see it there in the pic, its red.

siliconed one end to filter and hose thingy slipped n pop right in.

Might wanna ge two. One for each hole. One for the PVC tube and one for the hole in the intake hose.

If you want to stay smog legal just install a small catch can in the PCV line between the PCV valve and the intake. You can pick up one of those Campbell/Hausfield water seperators used in air compressor applications to collect the oil, then just unscrew it and dump it every so often. You can do it for about $20~$30 and 15 minutes of your time.

Or, you can do like the guy at this link (http://www.neonrick.com/oilair_howto.html) did and splice in a collector with a petcock at the bottom for draining.
