its that time again(new engine/turbo setup)
well instead of getting rid of the rs,i got rid of both irocs.i couldnt get rid of the rs,im having to much fun with the turbo engine.
well some of u may know on august 20th, i was supposed to take a few shots at the national v6 f-body et record which stands at 11.89 which was set by a supercharged and nitrous injected 4thgen.
well in my rush to prepare the car i overlooked alot of things, due to the fact i had been battling ignition system problems for almost 2 weeks prior to the event .i had made alot of changed to the car/tunning in attemps to go in the 11's.big nono.from now on its one change at a time.needless to say the day was a complete and total waste.i got in 4 runs
i could not get the car to build boost off the line, nor could i get the car past the 1/8th mile mark.one my last pass i didnt even make it past the 330' mark
first 3 runs
18.0@70
17.0@90
17.8@106
by the last run of the day i was so pissed i unhooked my boost line from the wastegate
the car finally built boost off the line but soon as it hit 18-19 psi the motor backfired and shut off i coasted to a 24.30@43 mph
wasted day.though my best 1/8th mile run of the day was 7.7@90
anyways i finally got the car apart to see what was wrong with it,and so far ive found bad valve springs, and a partially stuck open wastegate, the springs explain my poping/backfiring in th eintake and out the ex system, though im usure if the wastegate got stuck at the track or on the 100 mile drive home.and i still belive my icm may also be going as the car stalled a few time son th eway back.but always restarted righ tback up.
anyways im done with the 3.1,im finally putting together the 3.4 i have.since i already have all the parts(had them ordered before i found out my gf was pregnant)
ill get pictures up soon but the specs on new motor are as follows
3.4 block bored/honed .030 over
crower forged crank
327 small journal h-beam rods machined to fit the 60* motor
j.e forged .030 over pistions dished 8.5-1 cr with the 25 cc heads
gen 2 fwd heads lil more then mildly ported
and custom sheet metal manifold so i can run my dizzy instead of swaping to dis
i dont know what cam yet(still waiting to see what compcams recomends)
along with a custom clucth setup and adapter plate to mate a t56 to the 3.4
and the best part a brand new turbonetics t-76 turbo
and im keeping the 35 shot of nitrous on this new motor

Dave, that's really great news! I've decided to build the 3.1, and am now in the middle of working a set of used heads. Been driving her around since I fixed the tempermental idle (bad IAC, reset TPS), with relatively no problems since (aside from an exhaust leak, due to a broken drivers side bolt)....
I might have Eddie's Valve Grinding rebuild the 3.1 block for me, once the heads are finished. Stock throttle body will be ported out soon, but am still undecided on the intake manifold. The cam has already been chosen, reverse split, with new lobe design.
Turbo is still up in the air, as is the exhaust... but I'll worry about that later. Considering RBob's EBL for tuning, but we'll see how everything pans out first...
Taking her this friday to e-town, I'm racing my buddy's new Sunset Orange 3.8 Eclipse (his best is a 14.77, but he's learned how to launch it much better now). Come down bro, as it's always a good time over there...

hey just a word of advice, dont use eddies for anything other then getting ur block diped and bored/honed.do not trust them with align boring the mains or cam bearings.if u need that stuff done try fisher automitve in edision instead.that guy does real quality work.if u can i recomand going to the fwd heads.fwd heads flow better stock then ported iron heads

So you tell me to go with an auto while you're trying to fit a T56 in your own car.
I'm very curious to see how much power you put down.

The fastest turbo powered drag cars in the world are running with automatics. I too was going to swap in an automatic when I install the turbo (with the proper stall speed), but I'm having way too much fun banging the gears. My five speed is very weak, even without boost, and the six speed should be in by the end of September...

mine happens to be a street/strip car.the auto will be faster, but the stick is better for the street.specially since if i were to run an auto with my new setup,id have to buy a 5k converter, not to mention ud be hard pressed to make a 700r4 live up under 500+ hp,if it wasnt a street car id just do a th350 trans and transbrake
