I should have listened to you all 2.8 is dead!!!!!!!!!!
Well back when I was doing my rebuild a few of you guys suggested that I just get a 3.4. I didn't listen and now the 2.8 is dead b/c of some shady block work. So I have given in and found me a 3.4 for $150 and I am doing the swap this weekend. Too much of a headache trying to figure out whats wrong with the 2.8 when the 3.4 is so cheap and I'm getting the computer too. Like my daddy always says a hard head makes a soft ***. The 3.4 is out of a 93 camaro that was wrecked and I got a chance to hear it run b4 he pulled it. No leaks or knocks so I'm good 2 go.
Shoudl ahve listened in the first place. Trying to get this done b4 the weather gets too bad here in VA.

Good to know some1 else out there feels my pain. The 3.4 has 130 on it but the guy has the reciepts for some lower half work he has just done about 3 mths ago. New oil pump main bearings, and also head gaskets and stuff. Sad that his girl wrecked his 93 b/c it looked like a nice car. The oil was a nice color when i checked the dip stick so I think i'm getting a agood deal. Even so I can't pass on $150 anyway. If I do decide to rebuild b4 putting it in best believe I'm not taking it back to the same guy.

Sorry to hear that man. I got an '88 Camaro a few years ago from a friend of mine who was movin so he sold me the car. He was convinced that everything was fine except the oil pressure gauge which he said was 'broken'. I asked him if he was sure and he said ya it's been broken for weeks. Come to find out the oil pump was broken and he'd been driving it around like that all this time. By the time I got the car... The motor was shot... I replaced it with a 3.1 and even now it's just sittin there as I bought another '91 V6. I think the 3.4 is a great choice though. Good Luck with that.

man, you're lucky to find a 3.4 for such a cheap price. I had wanted to do that but I can only find them for around 800$ and I was like screw that, I picked up another 2.8 and another trans for 87$ and just going to deal with the lack of power. Good luck

How is the "2.8" to blame for shotty machine work?
Does gold fall out of your pockets when you buy a 3.4?
What kind of weed you smoking?
Always call the BBB when going to machine shops. We have one local that has been screwing up motors for over 50 years. Still in business, still a BBB member......
