Get a cam at least for the motor. I hear good things about the Comp cams 260H. It's still compatable with the computer and stock tune. I am about to pick one up myself.

Call Delta Cams and get them to grind you a cam to the same specs. You can get one from them for alot cheaper than from any other companies. I don't know the specs but you can look up on the comp cams website.

$59 for a reground cam and $89 for new. They also sell lifters for $40 that you should replace since they will be out anyways.

1.6 roller tip rocker arms (if you can find fiero valve covers) or 1.52 if you cant, 180* t-stat, regasket it, if youre not already planning on it, new oil and water pumps, dont go w/ a stock clutch either. i have a centerforce dualfriction and its pretty good, but i think id rather find something better. search around on here to see what others have put in. headers if you dont already have them..... although youll want a catback before those..... or with you can always get a crank underdrive pulley too. delete whatever you dont really need under the hood too.

really? everyone else has said that 1.6 will dent the stock valve covers. hmmmmm, something to look into. where did you get 1.7s from? or i should say what were they made for, ive never seen them for our engines.

he had a set of sb ford rockers, they will fit but the gemotry is off and it will side load the valves.not good for long term engine use.

there are many other rockers that will fit the engine but it is yet to be determined which ones will maintain the proper gemotry

speaking fo with do u still have those 1.7's ffb

The 1.7's were made for a Ford, and they were putting extra stress on the valve seals (not to mention almost too much lift for the stock springs) and I wouldn't recommend them for a DD (my car has only seen 1000 miles in a year).

Comp makes an adapter for the rocker studs that converts them from 10mmx1.5 to 3/8's, then any SBC rocker will work. You can actually replace the stamped steel style rockers with SBC stamped style rockers (3/8's), as long as the pivot ball has the same radius. They have the same sized slots in them.

I haven't tried full rollers, but roller tips will clear fine...

Yes I do, not on the car. I have been using the Crane 1.6's since you and VWDave had mentioned that. SBC and 60* have the same geometry, but the Fords have longer tips. I found out that the larger the ratio, it keeps the tip on the center of the valve stem, and moves the pushrod side closer to the fulcrum. Hence why the pushrod guides need to be ground down if the rockers are too big.

Since I am going to 3500 heads, I will have 1.6 full rollers stock and will probably sell both the Ford and Crane rockers (also high speed/molly rods to go with).

Well, I guess after I went and seen the motor, the guys fiancee flipped out on him, and won't let him sell the motor. But he wants the whole 1995 Firebird Loaded black leather interior, with t-tops for 2500$. But it's got 235000km.. Too much thinking for me..

Weel just go to a junkyard and get one for cheap then rebuild it since the one you were going to buy could have needed one.

$2500 isn't bad (especially CAN), I paid $2600usd for my Firebird with 89k miles on it (body and int are mint). If the body is in good shape, I would go for it.

EDIT: Click on the garage icon under my username to see what it looked like whn I bought it.
