Car: 89 Firebird
Engine: 2.8L out of a 89 camaro
Transmission: 5 speed
Axle/Gears: ?
2.8 swap
doing a 2.8 direct swap in a few days or so.. engine in getting is a 2.8 automatic.. i know i have to change the flexplate/flywheel since its going in to a maunal trans car .. ive heard there are some crank issues of not matching/balanceing any help would be nice

its the same engine year 89 so im thinking a just swap the flywheel and it should be fine.. well and the starter

looks like i have to swap the air pump and exhaust manifolds and air injection... found the air injection not connected at the cat? dunno why must of been the previous owner capped it off.. didn't have any codes come up... i dunno if the ecu has been programed to run with out the air pump...

be sure to check the back of the crank on your new engine. Make sure there is a place for the pilot bearing! Sometimes automatic cars are not machined properly for the fit.

will do.. next week when i get time.. work 6 days a week and car is 30 miles away.. to top it all off blown up engine and a dui at the same time...

engine /trans split new clutch/pilot bering/cat on order.. flywheel bolts on the other hand seem to be a pain in the *** used a 17mm socket.. 16 to small.. damn near thinking there standard bolts..
once i get the new clutch .. slap it together and back in the car it goes...

fired up the air compressor flywheel bolts came right off.. swapped the flywheel new clutch. installed new pilot bearing. trans bolted up .. engine setting in the car. bolts in engine mounts.. now comes the fun part running the engine wire looms.. and rest of the stuff. hopefully have running by 12th of april some time.. can't wait...
had some trouble with the manifolds.. pulled the ones off the old 2.8 and drivers side.. nr 6 cylender had oil soaked studs... bad rings sooo. deffinatly needed a rebuild ..im gonna rebuild the 2.8 for future use or.. swap in a 3.4 at some point.. maybe in a few years or so.. when the engine just put in now dies..
quicker i get this car the quicker i get my licence back:P

put a new dizzy in and she fired right up the first time. now to finaly register and fix the slave cyl i broke. i should be driving it by saturday the 8th of november
im happy
still need to send the 165' ecm to craig moates for the zif socket install.
when i find a good weekend to tinker with it after i get it back with the new zif ill swap in the ecm and repin.

hah doing an engine swap while having a dui.. well its not the easyest thing in the world when the car is 30 miles a way and don't have a ride to work on the car every week.
