maf confusion
maf confusion
I recently aquired a 1986 2.8 powered camaro. It has a maf in front of the TB but no wiring hooked to it and I can't find any loose wires to hook it up. The car runs well once warm but I'm very confused as to where the harness for the maf went. This camaro is stripped out and weight reduced for autocross racing it is not a daily driver.

Re: maf confusion
yah I bought it this way and the guy before me bought it this way. I would think it wouldn't run at all with no maf.
I'll see what I can do for pics today when I head out to work on it

^ Ahh, completely forgot about those older A/C Delco "3" wire MAF's, w/the vibrating enhanced film. Talk about high tech....

Re: maf confusion
a replacement wire went on today and voila smooth idle and spot on fuel curve . I think it'll make a tad more power and definitely be a happier camper. The full interior full weight 9c1 and SVO mustang will have some competition this year. I may only have 135-140 hp but I don't have any unneeded weight. so a 2500lb or so v6 should be a good match for the 3500+lb 9c1 and the 4000lb SVO hehehe.

Re: maf confusion
a svo would be a good match for a 305 or 350 they gave 5.0 mustangs a run for their money don't underestimate them especially if work has been done i've seen 400 hp svo's still running off a 2.3 liter engine.
Re: maf confusion
I have driven this SVO and it is VERY quick. It has over 250hp to the wheels. I bought the Camaro from the owner of the SVO. They said this V6 Camaro bested a 5.7l 9c1 Camaro in autocross competition. I am however planning to improve upon the record and best the SVO....... Weight is my ally their weight specifically both the 9c1 and the SVO are full interior cars with all the options present. My Camaro on the other hand is stripped out no carpet, no sound deadening, no passenger seats, no heater, no AC, and no stereo. Because of this it should match the HP/weight of the other cars and corner at higher speeds due to the lower mass and polar moment.
