Without knowing what the sleeves were designed for, you wont know how far it can be bored, dont know if you'll have a lot of trouble finding sleeves for it, but if you can then there is of course the option of having it re-sleeved.

Without knowing what the sleeves were designed for, about all you can do is take it to be sonic checked at a machine shop, they'll tell you how far you can safely go with it.

i doubt the block was ever resleved form the factory but u never know the guy bought the stuff years ago and never did anything with it he also does not know the history on the stuff.ill prolly take the block anyways **** for the price i can get it for even if it needs 6 new sleves im still getiing 2.5 deals on the dam thing.but if i can id liek to rebore it and use it without having to spend more money on it, the mechanical injection im just gonna throw on a shelf and let it sit, though if i ever go ahead with my alky plans it will be much easier to setup then with fi

Re: max over bore on aluminum block?

Technical Notes: Aluminum Bow Tie V6/60° engine blocks have rough-bored 89mm (3.504”) cylinders which can be safely over bored to 91mm (3.582”).

.078 it seems to be, so get out your instruments to find out what the bore is at now.

Re: max over bore on aluminum block?

Safely bored to almost .080" over! Nice. I looked at the AL blocks at one point, but the cost wasn't worth it to me since a Gen3 will be going in the car eventually anyways.

Nice to see someone finally get a hold of one and do something with it, got any pics?

Do you know what manual flywheel to use with the gen3 engines in the 3 gen f-bodys?

I would like to use my 3500 bottom end and put sbc 6'' rods in it (mill .100 off the top of the pistons of course) to raise the compression. a fall project though.

Re: max over bore on aluminum block?

I also thought about boring the 3.4 block for the 3500 pistons and filling the water jackets half full of hard block for strength
