4th gen heads?

My computer wont let me search or I would look around before asking this. Will 4th gen 3.4 heads bolt onto a 3.1 with little to no work required? preferably no work required. Also is the 3.4 intake any different/would it help me at all in power #'s and other things. And would that be a direct bolt on as well? There are several junk 3.4 camaros in my area so parts are no real problem. I just dont want to swap motors or anything like that just yet.

There is no differance in the heads( no power gain or loss). The intakes can be swaped out but if there is any differance in power it wouldn't be worth the work.

Re: 4th gen heads?

other than swapping motors, is there anything that would be a direct bolt-on from a 3.4 that WOULD give me power increases?

Re: 4th gen heads?

not really, the intake may give you a little but you probably wont feel it. You take the 3.4 only has 20 more hp than the smaller 3.1.

Re: 4th gen heads?

I went from a 3.1 to a 3.4 all it done for me was gave me a little more power pulling hills but didn't gain but 2 tenths threw the 1/4. Try turning your timing up a little you'll gain more from it than changing intakes.

Re: 4th gen heads?

okay. but power aside, does it flow any better? something that could pick up maybe like 1-2 mpg's? everything helps with gas these days.

Re: 4th gen heads?

That intake design is about as bad as the one we have. Its not worth the work as it will give you next to nothing.

Re: 4th gen heads?

seems to me that the introduction of the 2.8s and 3.1s was a waste of time & money on GM's part.. yeah they're great if you want something slow and somewhat fuel efficient. Other than that, CRAP!!!

Re: 4th gen heads?

Well I found some aluminum "performance" heads but I just dont feel this motor is worth the $600 they want for them. + I cant exactly guarantee how much "performance" I'd be looking at. Not worth it IMO.

Re: 4th gen heads?

The 3.4 intake wont fit on our motors because we have a Dizzy, and they dont.

As already mentioned, the 3.4 heads are the same as the 3.1's.

What aluminum heads did you find? Many of us have looked for the potter boat heads which are aluminum, but cant seem to find any.

Re: 4th gen heads?

They are from A.R.I. Engines. It doesnt give much info about them though. I emailed them to see about getting more info
http://www.engine-parts.com/GMV6/gmv6heads.html
There is an assortment of 2.8-3.1 stuff along with stroker kits.
Seems a little pricey to me but IDK.

I believe those are the FWD heads and wont be a drop in deal. You will need to do the 3x00 top end swap...whick has been covered many times.

Check out those links to see if you want/can do the swap. But it is no where near a drop in and go deal.

These engines can go very fast, for the size that they are...you just have to work for it. There are a couple people that are making fast 60*V6s on this board (FF, me, Project89, maybe a few others I forgot), and we hope to turn a little heads, and destroy some tire while we do it

Re: 4th gen heads?

Well thats seems all fine and dandy if you had boat loads of money to pour into it. For a good chunk of change I dont see why I couldnt squeeze 250-300 N/A hp out of this motor. However, as much as us v6 fans want to fight it, the bigger displacement-bigger power cant be ignored. So basically, since I cant cheaply get any real power, the v8 is comin when I have 2 pennys to rub together. I could probably do most of the swaps out there, its morely a matter of how useful it would actually be.
