Best place to buy 3.4?
I know I've made a lot of threads recently, well, just one, I guess, but I get the feeling I'm being needy. Anyways, on to the point, I'm going to be dropping a 3.4 bottom end into my car (with a delicious cam, and hopefully some aluminum heads if I can get my hands on some) and I'm just wondering if you guys knew any good places to get one?
Obviously I've checked online and found a few sites, but I didn't know if there were any recommended sites for buying one. The local pick and pull junkyards around me want an absurd amount of money for a running one, the cheapest I found was $1600
, which is just...way too much.
Even better, any place online to find aluminum heads and the upper/lower intake manifold? Those, I have not been able to find.

if your doing that you just need the block from a RWD firebird/camaro and the upper from a FWD 3.4 make sure the junkyards know you want a RWD engine. 1600 for a pulled engine (running or not) out side of like an LS1/2 or somthing is robbery....

I'm doing a hybrid, for now, so I really just need the bottom end. And yea, 1600 for a pulled engine, especially just a 3.4, is absurd.

you might check junkyarddog.com they submit your request to 20-30 different scrapyards. I've gotten some good deals that way.

Re: Best place to buy 3.4?
I have one in So Calif. I got out of a 93 Camaro a few years back and has been sitting on a stand in my garage. It had 44,000 original miles on it and the car was in an accident- totaled from the rear back in 1998 and it sat in an aquaintances side yard for a few years till I nabbed it thinking I was going to someday do something with it- well, A divorce and no more Camaro has changed that plan. I never put it into the car because I had just put a brand new 2.8 into it 6 months prior. Was just waiting for that to tire and i was gong to build this 3.4 for it next. Comes wih a prototype plenum I custom built also.
I want $400 FIRM if anyone local is interested.
