Problems...

today i hit a dip that felt like a speed bump but went into the ground, i had just pulled off of a main(ish) highway and was still doing about 35-40. i bottomed out the front suspension and drug the k-member on the ground. The car ran fine. When i pulled back on to the highway it accelerated fine. i mashed the accelerator to not lose speed when i climbed a hill; when the car down shifted i lost all power and it felt as is i had down shifted to gear-down. i lifted off the gas and it shifted back into third (i don't use overdrive very often because i dont drive on roads that i could keep it in 4th for any decent amount of time) and the car drove fine as long as i didn't engage the passing gear. when i got home i checked a few of the sensors to make sure i hadn't knocked them loose, started it up and it ran fine. Then i pulled out and everything seemed to work fine and the passing gear worked fine too. so i guess what i'm asking is what did i do?
86 2.8 700r4, my bad i should have put that in first

Re: Problems...

Sometimes my car acts like that too it will be fine in 4th but then it will try to shift down for more power in 3rd and it doesn't give the feel it should, but I don't know what it is....One of my friends with a Lumina LTZ 3.1L 4L60E was driving on a road that sounds like one you were on and he cracked his tranny pan though so I was just wondering

Re: Problems...

I spat my alternator belt last night and it died in the wendy's drive through, Since it was about ten, raining, and colder than a well digger's @** i just left it there and fixed it this afternoon.
