Tach Twitchin'
Tach Twitchin'
Only occasionally does this happen: I will be sitting at a light in drive, and the tach will start bouncing around, but the engine stays the same speed. It stops if you put it in neutral, and sometimes it will start again when you put it in gear. Any ideas what causes this? Also I need a detailed explanation about adjusting the TV cable, if anyone gets some time.....

Did you try this message in the "General Engine" forum? I know I've read of this problem before, I just never paid attention

The first thing you should do is check the electrical connections at your ignition coil for the tach bouncing. I know it's an extreme, but while I was doing my tune up, I ended up breaking a lot of the housing of the coil connectors off because I didn't know how they were clipped on. So I let it be, but soon they started to come loose really easily and as they did, the tach would start jumping around from 2K to 5500 etc.... Then eventually the tach would die altogether and soon after that, the car would die. But as soon as I tightened up the connection again, all was well. So now I have bought some new connectors and have had no problems since.
Jason - mine used to, along with the batt gauge - but I got a wire to the ECM that was grounding out fixed and that cured it. Fixed a hell of a lot of other problems to.
But no, mine doesn't do it anymore.
