Alrighty...
I'm going with the Crane Compucam 2030 (I think), Crane 1.6 rockers, and high energy pushrods (in the kit, thanks TomP). Will all these be compatible?
Also, should I do an aftermarket timing gears and chain while I'm in there? What good are they?
Also, is there an aftermarket distributor made for the GM 60*? I could have sworn I heard someone mention that they had an Accel distributor, not cap, whole distributor. I'd be interested, but I'm not sure if they exist...
Finally, what type of oil should I use? The same old debate, synthetic vs dino.

umm...i saw one in the PAW catalog...i only use mobil 1 synthetic (94camarov6...no BS =)

bread cam in with regular oil. change it after 50 miles, use synthetic then if you want

The only aftermarket timing chain I know of is the unit by Cloyes... it's a true-dual-roller chain that ran me $90 from Summit Racing. When you pop off your front cover (hah, if only it was as easy as that), you'll see a factory "damper" in the middle of the cam gear, crank gear, and timing chain. The Cloyes box says that the damper shouldn't be re-used; two bolts hold it on, it's just a piece of steel. Looks like it "guides" the chain. I put the damper back on after I put on the new crank gear, and the new crank sprocket was smacking the damper.
Can you believe MSD makes a distributor for the 2.3 liter I-4 Mustang motor, but not for our V6's?! I can't.

Yes they do make distributors for the V6's. PAW sells em, theres 3 or 4 to choose from in the catalog. If your doing the cam and such, get yourself the "heavy duty" chainset, might as well goto a stronger version if your putting in bigger bang
I do not use synthetic oil, i can't see paying that much for a engine thats not a high horsepower runner altho i do see using it if you seriously mod the engine. I will most likey use it after i put mine together. Use regular oil however to break the new cam in, then after the break in time goto synthetic. The 2030, the 1.6 rockers and pushrods will work, get with the maker and tell em what you are doing and listen to the suggestions made by them. Will save ya time and headache. Good luck and let us know how it comes out
BTW..... go stopwatch your car 0 to 60 now, and do it again after breakin

Dynomax exhaust, cold air, 8mm wires, splitfires, shift kit, B&M Shifter.
On the table waiting to go in:
Ported/polished iron heads, 1.6:1 rockers, Lightly ported/Gasket matched Intake. Ported/Polished TB, Compucam 2030, 5" tach, duel pod w/oil temp, tranny temp gauges. Hood pod w/Fuel pressure, NOS pressure.
Coming Soon:
FastChip, 275 rears, 235 fronts, Ram air hood, suspension mods.

91, do those distributors work with the computer? MSD makes a vacuum advance one, but not a computer-controlled one for the v6. (Of course they make a v8 unit... sigh.)
