End of '00 special!! What did YOUR car get for work this year? Everyone post!!

Ok, if Monkie can get 140 some-odd posts, I want results guys

2000 was a VERY good year for my car. It was in hibernation until the end of March, and I'm very pissed right now that I sold my winter beater back in April and will be running the car this winter and next But that's besides the point! I got way more done this year than ever before!!

Here's what my car got for 2000:
April:
-K&Ns
-Hypertech chip
-IROC tailights
-New rear shocks

May:
-New starter
-New AC Delco battery

July/August:
-Power windows and interior trunk release

August:
-New tranny mount
-Boston Acoustics Rally 6x9s in the rear, Boston Acoustics plate 4x6s in front
-Eclipse 100x4 amp with Monster Cable 4 gague power wire, 16 gague XLN speaker wire, XLN interconnects, even gold plated battery posts!!

September:
-Tinted windows

October:
-Accel cap/rotor/8.8 wires
-AC RapidFire plugs
-New front brakes, brake hoses
-Retightened every bolt in the steering column!! (tilt elbow was all loose)

November:
-Accel Super Coil

I gotta say, in terms of maintenance this year, the car didn't need very much when compared to the last 2 years!! I think only needing a battery, starter, tranny mount and front brakes was pretty good!

Here's what 2001 will bring:
-Dynomax exhaust with Borla tips (I hope)
-Ram air intake
-Accel 300+ ignition box
-4 new stock-sized BFG Comp T/A HR4s

So everyone tell what your car got this year and what the plans for '01 are!

Well, first off in October...i got my car. WOOHOO. Let's see, it's had a new hood, new front bumper cover, a K&N air filter. I had the differential grease changed (regular maintenance, but hey, i was happy). Comin up in December-January, it's getting new paint, a new shifter plate, and those damn little heater/AC vent fins..LOL. Maybe I'll even hit the junkyards and find a 4th gen Aluminum driveshaft...if only I could be so lucky. OH, and it's also getting new tires all the way around. Anyone know what it would cost to have my rims professionally clean? I thought about buying new ones, but I so love the stock 92 Bird rims.....

Good post idea, J! Hm, lets see...

Spring 2000:
- Yearly major tuneup

Early Summer 2000:
- Removed a/c system
- Fabricated home-made ram-air
- Washed it once or twice, damn rain

Late Summer 2000:
- MSD 6AL box & Blaster SS coil
- 3.73/posi/disc axle swap

Next year's plans, besides another major tuneup, will hopefully be:

- 2.8 rebuild (man, I hope so!)
- install my WS6 quick-ratio steering box
- install my 21mm (trans/am) rear anti-sway bar
- weld up a strut tower brace
- weld up a wonderbar
- box my control arms
- do a front suspension rebuild (PST parts)
- weld a new right rear 1/4 panel onto the car
- get a new paint job

Ah, but I can only hope for that first one... (sigh)

[edit] Oops! Mike Harvey reminded me- I also put in brand new ACC Carpet (Dove Gray) and put in "mint condition" seats (my original style, yeah!) from a junkyard.

AH, ONEFINE8T9 reminded me of a few more additions:

1) New driver's exterior door handle (the original's spring had been duct taped up since, I dunno, 1994 maybe?? )
2) New center console lid
3) All new switches for the center console from the parts car that donated the PW

Keep 'em coming guys!

Well, over 2000 was the time my car decided to be female. Replaced the fuel pump and everything on that system, pretty much new ignition, got left on the side of the road a couple of times, got my first taste of being robbed (subs stolen), worried about what was going to break next, but then, outran a couple of 5.0 Camaros and Mudstains, enjoyed looks from women as I roared up and down the road, had fun learning to be a professional donut driver in January snow, broke 100 mph, and generally had one hell of a time with my car. Then......I sold it.
Learned quite a damn bit about 3rd gens from that car. I loved the hell out of it, and drove the hell out of it two! Now I've got the 69 and a V8, but if I get a different runaround car, it sure as hell will be another V6 - but with a manual!
Ah, those sweet old memories..........

Oh man where can I begin. I've gotten so much such for my car this year.
1) New black Carpet
2) Window Tint
3) New Shift Plate
4) B&M Console Mega Shifter (not installed)
5) Jet Stage 2 Chip & Thermo (not installed)
6) 3 new amps, cap, 4 new 12"s subs and a system that hits 161.8 db
7) tune up was obvious
8) the original 2.8L headers
9) 2.5" CATCO CAT
10) New 110 amp alternator
11) Optima Yellow top battery
12) MacEwen white faced gauges (not installed).
I think that's it

Here is my wish list for next year:
- Jan -
1) Custom made intake
2) Headers installed w/ the new CAT & all aluminum exhaust, also to have the headers ceramic coated

- Feb & March -
1) K.I.T.T. front nose & scanner bar
2) K.I.T.T. one piece blackout lenses for the taillights

- April -
New CD Player

- Winter 2001 to Winter of 2002 -
I will start on this section when I get a place to store my Firebird for the winter, mainly if I can get a place w/ a shop or a garage so I can store my car:

1) a full custom rebuild that would produce about 210-240 HP off engine alone
2) rebuild & beef up the transmission w/ new torque convertor
3) '91 GTA spoiler
4) Repaint w/ the chameleon shift changing paint
5) NOS
6) Some kind of super charger or turbo
7) KYB shocks & struts
8) Front end rebuild kit
9) STB & SFC
10) And a final goal of running 13's in the 1/4 mile

Sound good; I think it's been a good year & I hope it gets better next year

Well here's my 2000 for the Camaro.
New Years day installed my 220 watt amp and 8in sub.
End of Jan, first taste of being stranded on the side of the road. Ignition coil died on me. Took to shop to get it fixed they said it was a clogged fuel filter. Got a new fuel filter out of it, but tasted being stranded for the second time on the way home from the shop b/c that wasn't the problem. Got the new ignition coil. Dang I wish I'd had some money at the time so I could have gotten high performance one.
March I got a red Chevy bowtie and put it on the base of my rear glass.
Mid May put on new front disc brakes. Over 11k on them and they are still throwing off that nasty black brake dust.
End of May, my third taste of being stranded. My alternator went on me. Cost me $75 to get car towed 4 miles to my house. Wish I had known more about cars then so I could have had the cop jump me off and saved some money. Got my new alternator in.
June-Started putting a lot of miles on my car. Started seeing a girl that lives 45 mins down I40 and decided to go to college 25 miles down I40 giving me a 50 mile round trip everyday starting in August.
July-Tranny died on me while I was 100 miles from home. End of July, had the good ole 700R4 rebuilt. Only cost me $650!! No problems after 8k miles on it! (Knock on wood)
Oct-got my K&Ns and actually noticed some difference. Same day finally got my front end allignment. Got a new front passengers side ball joint. Noticed a nice improvement in the driveabitlity for a while till NC's aweful roads got it out of allignement again. Also in October got my interior and engine compartment detailed. Looks pretty good too! Only cost me $45!
Novemeber-Hit a friggin deer coming home from my friends house at 3am. Done damage to my hood and fender. Got $700 from insurance out of it. Pulled dent out a little on my own, still not to my liking.
Dec-Found out my car was an SC, not a Berlinetta, Thanks JasonE!
Might be parking it for the winter this week. Found out today that dad might get an Explorer by the end of the week and that'll be my ride till spring if he gets it.
All in all 00 ended on a nice note for the 2.8. All the problems were in the first part of the year. Changed my oil regularly. Put 17k miles on it this year. Most likely more next year. Almost sold the thing when my tranny went out, glad I didn't!
Plans for 01:
Dynomax or Flowmaster cat back w/ high flo cat
ignition upgrade
home made ram air
maybe a chip
tint my window
CD player
2 12 inch subs
hopefully a new paint job
2.5 inch cowl hood
who knows what else
Just hope I have the cash to do it!!
If I think of anything else for 00 or 01 I'll add it later.

------------------
Red 1986 SC, 2.8L, newly rebuilt 700R4, 3.42 Posi, t-tops, 133K miles and counting, K&N air filters, hopefully more to come!

gutted MAF
Pulled the door buzzer
Pioneer changer

September:
Beefed up sound system big time
new air filter
Blue Streak cap and rotor
Neihoff platinum wires
New heater control thinger vacuum stuff

October:
fuel filter
oil change w/ synth blend

November: BRRRRR! too cold!
K&N filter
Added bag of salt to back for better ice traction

December: Forget it!
Planning on a new cam/roller tip rockers for '01

Let me see, in 2000 I....
Fixed my 3.1 Camaro w/ a used engine.
Parked it and it still its there

In August or something like that I got my Firebird, best 3 grand I have ever spent. Anyway, since then it had gotten new switches for the fog lights, headlights, rear defrost and I added a power trunk release.
I did a headlight mod, so my pop ups are long gone, thank GOD! I have also done some conversions to the fog lights. I added a Pioneer amp and subs, out of my Camaro, and the 4x6s and a Blaupunkt head unit from my buddies Porsche.
My kinda ***** mods would be I blacked out the side markers, but that looks sweet because my car is black. Ummm, I have also added a second fuse box under the hood.
Right now I have no t-top headliner (for sale), no sun visors (gone), most of the plastic from the shoulder up are off, the center console is half out (to replace w/ a 4th gen one that I already have) and the tail lights will be replaced soon with TA ones.
Thats it for what I have done...
For 2001...
Winter/Spring - Sell the Camaro (and get that plague outta my life!) and with the 3k from that get the convertible parts and out them on my Firebird, put on the new doors with shaved door hanldes and a high end alarm system, and a new hood. I think US-Body Ram Air II. I will also do GTA rims and maybe a Flowmaster catback w/ Z28 exhaust tips (the rectangular black ones) Also, as much of a black interior swap w/ some grey accents and red lights and red digital gauges...
Later,
Douglas

LOL Tom...yeah, I spent a lotta $$ this year, more than I'd care to count!!

But at least this year I spent more $$ on fun than on maintenance I'll add it up and post it later.

Thats another thing you guys can post...how much $$ you dumped into your poor car this year

As for Monkie, so far I've only taken 3 posts up on this thread. You had what, 30-40 in the other one of yours??

My TTA is getting the motor put back in with new heads cam and intake. The turbo is being rebuilt as we speak. I will order a new rear in the next couple of days. new shocks, fuel system, paint job, white face gauges.

The 91 Mustang GT will be getting a new lower control arms, tubular K-member, hopefully a new Street Renagade shortblock 306 CI, new TNT nitrous kit dual stage kit, etc. This past year it got a bunck of stuff, 10-point chrome-moly custon rollcage, new holley intake and Anderson power pipe, AFR heads, several new sets of tires (slick and drag radials), cams, rebuilt rear twice with 33 spline axles and spool, rebuilt torgue boxes, etc

The 93 Mustang GT conv will get paid off this year.

WHERE DOES ALL THE MONEY GO!!!!!!!!!!!!

too many things to list.

Pete
The Tahoe will get new shoes soon.

I bought the car in January, and soon after did the best thing I ever could for my car: found this site After that:

Install JVC CD player
Repair exhaust
Replace water pump
Alarm w/keyless entry, trunk sensor and hatch sensor
Add speaker shelf in hatch (two 12" subs/amp)

Gut the catalytic converter
Replace shocks/struts
Replace exhaust tips
Lower the car 2"
Tint the windows
Remove backseat (and old subs) and replace with new speaker shelf: two Pioneer 12" subs, amp
Install homemade filtercharger with K&N
Major tune-up

This weekend I will hopefully be installing a new antenna, and possibly a non-airbag steering wheel (stock Trans Am wheel). I also have a shift kit and drain plug waiting to be installed, and I should be slapping on some new meats by month's end.

Hmm.. Goooood question. I'm gonna forget stuff, but what the hell, I'll jump on the bandwagon here.

Spring:
New tires all around, new brakes, began learning how to paint my car (and I'm glad I only abused the hood at first cuz it took me quite a while to figure it out)

Summer:
Splitfire plugs, Accel 8mm wires, MSD coil, more painting.. redid the whole body finally, even though it wasn't nearly as good as I wanted it, and added racing stripes, '83 Firechicken spoiler, repainted rims (painted by previous owner, and black didn't fit anymore), new battery.

Fall:
Revamped the stripes due to someone trying to sideswipe the nose off my car.. shredding the bra and sending a driving light flying (his car ended up with moderate body damage, my nose flexed and ended up with 2 tiny scratches), Finally figured out how to get the paint on right, and then it got too cold to finish the job.

Winter:
Black velour interior, minor adjustments, #1 cyl magically stopped taking on oil, new heater core.

Most of it's minor, but she's a happy car. I'm sure I missed stuff too.. but I think I've ranted enough.

------------------
'86 Camaro SC, black /w silver stripes
MSD Coil, Accel 8mm wires, splitfire plugs.. need a job to get this list longer

TS, how did you paint the car? With cans, or with a compressor/spray gun?

DAMN!!! Why did I say "forget it" for December's mods??? The other day I hit a big snow drift, and that has caused the "power removal" of the rad air dam and I now need a new fan motor. Good ol' winter. If I wasn't a skier/boarder, I'd hate it...

Well for starters, my car got ME this March . Ever since I bought it, I've:
1. Switched tire/rim types 3 - 4 times before settling on the Z28's
2. Replaced stock radio with Z28 tape deck until I got my Kenwood head unit
3. Replaced muffler with Cherry Bomb Turbo (me thinks it may have improved performance slightly...)
4. All the work to certify it (though not much)
5. New paint job (as well as body work)
6. New snow tires
BTW this is only close to the order that it occured, and not right on, but close enough

Whoops, completely missed your question, Tom... Cans, actually. I'm not betting on getting the perfect paint job out of it (although if I do I'll be thrilled).. just trying to get a good look for it together before I drag her to a real body shop and have a good suit put on her...

conrats RS'er, now the question, will you be rejoining the v6'ers?

As for me, my Christmas present consited of a new vehicle.

I recieved a 1973 Pontiac Trans Am, with a 400ci v8. It's a beast, of a car, and can get up and go like no tomarrow.

prob is i can't drive it, it's only 6 inches long, and turns out there's no engine in it, just a shaker hood. But it still moves, has those power wheels that are spring loaded, so when the cars pulled backwards and released, it shoots forward like a rocket. It's awesome, and it matches my cars color, jet black, and shiny.

Ideally, yes. I would like to. However part of me is leaning toward 305,then the insurance thing clicks in my head and I go running screaming from that back to the V6
