Hey guys after a lot of reading on these forums I decided I would like to do put a turbo on my engine. I have a few questions and concerns and would like any opinions/comments/etc you have! I calculate my engine gets about 140 horsepower, its a 91 Firebird with a 3.1 Camaro engine, 5speed, Fuel Injected. Im just getting into the engine game and I would like horsepower while it remains a daily driver car. My car will bog and barely go in 4th & 5th gear, im wondering is this because the small amount of horsepower or torque? Any ways what are your ideas on a turbo, turbo model, modifications, if i should do anything to my suspension/etc.. Not a bad car for $50? Giving an estimate I have a $6,000 budget to start with. Thanks a lot project89! After going through all 3 threads, I have noticed some major differences in them which leads me to these questions: Do I need a BOV, or is it included in the universal turbo kit?(thread 1) | Also I don't have the tools to do the job myself, will any shop put these on, will I have to go to different shops for each part or find someone with all the tools and stands? | Someone also mentioned they were doing the same thing but needed a different k-member and modifications to the body, will mine need this work too or bolt right in?

u deffinatly need a bov since u have a manual car, since u cant do the work urself take the car to a muffler shop and have them make u a custom y pipe that comes to the front of the motor like the last thread, that will be the cheapest way, minor body mods needed to fit the intercooler i.e trimming of the hood latch support .

were u located theres a couple members with turbo kits if ur local o somone maye they can meet up with u and let u have a look at there turbo system

no need for a turbo timer and u want an intercooler with 2.5 inch in and outs

hmm blc had a turbo kit he is in colorado but he sold it, i dont think anyone is near u
other then pilsbury and me with a turbo, im in utah and pils is in indiana

then add in fuel injectors, a wideband 02 sensor, and a megasquirt ecm for tunning, and about another 100- 200 bucks in ex tubing

Nice! Then you know what im talking about hopefully with low, low, low power in 4th and 5th gear? My engine will bog like crazy and slowly accelerate so hopefully this adder will get some decent horsepower build.
