How to install intake on 3.1 189 v6

I've been looking around for a kit that has all piping to put a cold air intake on my Camaro but have found none. So what I bought is a cold air intake filter and what I'm going to do is just remove the air box and install the filter to the stock intake. Will it be better than a stock intake? And if not can you tell me where I can find the piping to bring it to the bottom

Re: How to install intake on 3.1 189 v6

Can't answer that without even knowing which car you have, much less which engine or air intake setup, and the way you are wanting to do it is warm air which is less than ideal, free flowing warm air is better than most factory warm air setups as its less restricted, but cai is much better and no one can tell you if its an improvement or not without knowing what setup you have...

I'm sorry for not informing you lol I have this exact setup http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0011_large.jpg And what I was planning to do is take out the air box and just put a cone shaped filter there like a wai. Will it make a difference?

Just remove the filter canister and use an open element filter in the same location utilizing the piping already there.

does anybody know why Chevy changed the setup for the 3.1? the old 2.8 system was awesome, and if it was good enough for the TPI cars, you would think it would work for the 3.1

Just swap the 2.8 setup over- I did. Or check out Spectre Performance for modular cold air intakes and parts...

The sensor will come out of the canister. Take out canister... Take out sensor.. Plug sensor back in. Tada no service light

Re: How to install intake on 3.1 189 v6

It is pretty surprising how much louder a free flowing air intake setup can make a car, discovered that when I put a cone filter on my 3100 in my buick, lol.
