Keep in mind that this was when I first bought my car. It's cleaner now, and has yellow wires (ACCEL), yellow coil (ACCEL), and does have a hood on it.

Grab some degreaser, go to the carwash, leave your car runnin, spray degreaser, spray rinse trying your best to stay away from your distributor (although with our cars it isn't that hard) and vioula (pretty sure that's how you spell it) your engine is now clean.

@.8 emblem only comes on, haha, 2.8's. All the above are 3.1's, am I right? I"ve got a few pictures of my painted plenum, but I haven't put them online yet, and I'm going to the Godsmack concert tongiht, so won't have a chance to get them up til tomorrow.

Technical digression in this post: what music powers your V6? Don't think it's tech? Try driving to Barroque music, rough idle, slower acceleration, and mine actually throws codes...

For me, Godsmack, Metallica, Sevendust, Kid Rock, Limp Bizit, and I ALWAYS have the Fight Club soundtrack in the changer.

Wow! I take my message back from a few days ago (about never seeing a 3.1 in person)- I think I did!

I was at a junkyard this past Saturday that didn't have anything I needed, so I left. There was a Firebird in there, with a 2.8, with no "2.8" emblem on the top! I thought that was strange as hell- apparently, I was looking at a 3.1! Hm, maybe I'll go back. Of course, I don't know what I'd take off of it... hehe, maybe I'll take the top, and convert my 2.8 to a "hidden" 2.8.

Vortec, that's a piece of crap. It's a rectangular air duct, not a filter box, and it's very restrictive. Mine is gone.

no i know that its just i bought a 305 TPI motor from a firbird in that model(anyone know when they stoped making those models as the black 86' firbird) and when i had the motor rebuild i changed the block and dont have casting #. In conclusion dont know what year motor i have so im trying to figure out what year did firbird come out with 305 TPI's w/ that style of airbox. I know the motor is from an 87' to 89' but i want to know exactly what year. I know it dosent matter but it bothers me, so please someone help.
