Nope.. they don't. Our crankcase air intake is pre-filtered by the normal air intake filter (notice the little tube from your passenger side valve cover to the air intake right before the TB, and drivers side valve cover to vacuum)

Just how do you figure dirt is going to manage to work its way in when the entire system is sealed after the main air filter(s)??? It's not.. unless you pour dirt into the crankcase.. but I don't think I know anyone that silly.

Pop your hood, look at the tubes, see for yourself that it's a sealed system which only draws air in from the primary filter(s).

Oh, sorry.. forgot to actually answer your question. *if* dirt were to get in there, it would be defined as a Very Bad Thing (tm). Worst case scenario would be complete engine rebuild.. just imagine taking coarse sandpaper to your cyl walls, crank journals, etc.

weeeellll....one time, back in the day of about summer of last year the uhhh air..filter gremlin jacked me for my air filter...yaaa thats its..anyways it was out for a couple o' days, long story short i had to have my tb total cleaned out cause it got so dirty, and was causing my car to run sluggish and die, but even after i got it cleaned out it still dies alot after the engine hits the 210degrees mark, since i never had the cylinders and stuff like that checked could that somehow be a problem??

i was reading this and it mede me think of a question. i have that same thing you guys were talking about but there seems to be oil going aginst the airflow and coming up the pipe and getting into my throttle body. whats up with that. over a few years this could build up quite a bit in the tb, plenum, and intake manifold. what do you think?

Considering all of this is a positive crankcase ventalation system, it's normal for some oil to make its way into TB.. just gotta clean the TB once in a while.
Also, since it sounds like you're not to sure what the crankcase is exactly, it's the oil-filled portion of your engine which contains the major innards such as your crankshaft, camshaft, engine bearings, connectiinig rods, back side of the pistons, etc. The reason it's vented is because some combustion gasses manage to blow by the piston during the compression and power strokes.. it's almost inevitable.. and do you really want potentially explosive gasses just hanging around in your engine? I think not.
