Just letting you guys know that with the money I got from my 87 camaro getting smashed, I bought myself an 89 Trans Am GTA. I cant believe the deal I got on it. $4000 CAN which is like $2700 US. The only problem is the clearcoat is coming off the top parts of the car. It has a 5.7L, 4 wheel disc, posi rear end, (not sure which gears), 16" gold spoked rims, black leather interior, power everything, dual cats, and only 166,000 kms. And it seems to pull more than a freight train.
I thought I'd let you guys know whats out there. I was looking at v6's and v8's and I got lucky and found this one. I miss my v6 in a way.. being the underdog. But I love the power of this car, and especially the luxury of the GTA. I have yet to test my mpg though.
So I'll drop in the v6 board from time to time mostly just to read whats going on. And try to lend a hand from the little experience I have. Good luck guys!

We'll miss you
And you'll miss the gas milage.
Yeah, torque is a wonderful feeling.
Now, you know how I felt, going from my 2.8, to the 3.4.
No comparison, eh?
I have enough V-8 cars, it's fun to hop up a 6 cylinder, tho.
You probably have the 3:23 gears.
Keep it stock and watch it appreciate in value. Only have to wait one more year, til the Camaro & Firebird are gone from production.
Clear coat is shot, so you need a paint job.
I WISH THEY COULD JUST SPRAY ON CLEAR COAT, but, that doesn't work real well in life (or paint shops!).

I paid 750 for mine.
Ok, here's a tech question (sorta)....what would make his car go up in value. From observation, only the first couple of years, and the LAST year of a car go up.
I wish I could call GM and tell them I want the VERY LAST one off the line.

86 Trans Am w/ built 355TPI with SLP goodies and too much other stuff to List. One sweet *** car, wish I would have had a good enough Job to pay insurance on three cars so I could keep it, but for a 89 Turbo Trans Am w/ Low miles, I think I made the right choice!

Congrads on the GTA. Did you buy it Private or on a lot... the cheapest GTA I have seen around here (That ran) was $6600. My friend sold his 87 for $800, but it had no engine, or trans, and well, it was a trash car...
Good luck on the V-8, (Especialy with gas prices) Although here in NS gas has droped over $.10 a litre...
