How much would you notice this?
I just put them in. I notice more in the upper rpm. I also put in an Accel 300+ ignition. And it was a noticable change.
Also i went and got a belt that was 10cm shorter. the part # is Dayco #5060680 and they were Jet Pulley's

What otehr mods were you considering? If you don't have an exhaust save the cash for that, or save it for a cam... I would recommend to anyone to add pulleys, and a chip after you do some more potent mods..
Brian I plan on getting a cam first anyways and I agree with you 100%. I think the first mod should be an exhaust then go straight to the motor, dont waste time and money on bolt ons. IMO

I always said that the first mods should always get your car in full tune. Fix all vac lines. Replace all ignition components, emmision valves, blah blah. Change fluids and clean out that freakin TB!!!!
The mod I noticed most was the chip. Although I put it in at the same time as the MSD. I have a full cat back exhaust and it did slightly increase freeway get up.

I agreee the first thing should be a full tune up, but mods that i have seen that are not needed off the bat cause they do so little are:
1. Pulleys
2. Chip
The exhaust will give you a nice sound and with the age of our cars free up more power than pulleys. Plus it does not strain the engine and can offer better gas mileage. Just why waste the money on a chip, which I did years ago when you can get hte cam for the same price and see and feel a major difference.

Are there any smaller crank pulleys from other cars that will work for the earlier models?

About the pullies, I was looking at some made for pre 86 305's and the mounting locations look very similar to our non-serpentine belt systems. Maybe it could be adapted and all you gotta do is find a belt the correct size.

Haha, so you're telling me your car takes an extra second to cross the finish line after a high 14 second GT mustang when you're only a few feet behind? Do the math homeboy:
At the end of the strip, the GT is doin about 140 feet per second. According to the run that you could muster up, you're doin about 126 feet per second. At that instant of the crossing line (or in this case the 95 MPH), you'd be about 14 feet behind him (he had a car on you right? or what was left of it).
Lets say, for the rest of the 14 feet left over, you we're still traveling 126 feet per second (because in reality you would still be accelerating hopefully). It would only take you a little over a tenth of a second to cover that 14 feet (14 feet/126 feet/sec).
So, either that GT Mustang you raced to 95 MPH and only have a car on you, ran a 15.7 or you can't drive for sh*t at the track. Which one do you choose?
Payce.
