Oil pressure gauge?

On my 92 I had a question on the oil gauge. Is it for oil pressure? If so, my car was past the last marking today. Is this bad? Or is this normal during winter. I didn't have this car last winter and I don't know how it acted. Thanks for anyone who helps me!

Yes it does read oil pressure. Are you sure that the gauge is accurate,if so then you may have a clog or something in the system. The normal pressure is around 30 psi.Youll be in the pits if parts dont get lubed.

In case you can't figure out anything else ... it might be the oil pressure (sensor) sending unit. I'm not sure how you test it. Alot of people have had to replace theirs.

Is the needle just low or is it not working at all??
The Haynes manual says you should have a minimum of 15 psi at 1100 rpm......is yours above 15 psi?

Oh man, I must have wrote it wrong. My needle isn't showing low oil pressure, it's showing extremely high! It's past the last line on the gauge. Should I take my car somewhere to get it checked?

On my car I'm convinced I have a bad oil pressure sending unit (or it could be the wires). At anything above idle the needle is fully pegged as high as it will go.

The car has been like this for about 2 years and I've had no other problems relating to this. I would advise that you get your oil pressure checked with a separate guage to be sure everything is ok. If oil pressure is actually fine then you can either ignore the dash guage, change the sensor yourself, or get someone else to do it.

Welp, I replaced my Oil Pressure Sending Unit pretty recently. Here's what it does:

-Engine Cold: Idle around 60-65 psi, above idle is around 70-80 psi

-Engine Warm: Idle around 30-40 psi, above idle is around 60-80 psi.

What is yours doing?? BTW, i'd rather have high oil pressure than low oil pressure.

I really don't know the psi. It doesn't show it on the gauge but right when I turn on the car it goes up there to the last line. Then when I drive it a bit, it goes a little bit farther past the last line. How would I go about checking the psi?

common problem with the sending unit is the diaphram breaks and oil gets on the connector inside. pull the connector off and see if it has oil in it. if so, replace. the sending unit is by the filter.
