You posted pictures a while back of your CAI and you drilled a hole in the piping to place your sensor. I wanna see the setup again.

made with 3" PVC

and using a little math, drilled a hole w/ 11/16" paddle bit, and the sensor screwed right in. the thread made a seal with the PVC

You have to worry about a battery, I have to worry about a charcoal canister.

Where does the air get into the intake hose at? And what makes it cold air? Is the sensor already on the car and you just moved it? Can I rig my 2.8 like that?

Monkie--If Brian's car is anything like mine the Charcoal canister is on the driver's side and not where the cold air setup is going. If I remember correctly, it is like mine, so he didn't have to worry about it.

427--The sensor is already there on your car, you can do that to you car as long at it is fuel injected. I know on Brian's car the air is drawn in from the fender. I think total cost is around 75 bucks with the filter, it may be less(but not including the battery relocation kit).

Around 50 bucks.. Not much is over that.. 30 for the filter and 5 for the PVC, the adapter was like 3 and the paint could have been a buck a can.. Can you mounthte canister upside down?

Well if my car was like his I would also have it on the driver's side but since my car isnt like his mine is on the side with the air intake. And I kinda figured he didnt have to worry about it.

Brian, yea you can mount it upside down but the problem is where? I really dont even need it but it has sensors and I dont know if taking it out would mess something up.

427, what makes is "cold" air is that the air it is getting is as far away from then engine as possible, hence cooler....which is the whole point. its a huge upgrade over the stock setup, and yea ran about 55.00 including the filter. my next step, which is an idea i got fomr KED85 and TomP is that i am gonn enclose the conical so all the air come from underneath and not so much from the engine bay. i am not a big fan of gouging a hole in the fender wall, which i have seen pics of, so i wanted to leave it where it is. as cool as it can be w/o damaging the car and staying away from water!!

Adjust your headlight housing, to be lower. Adjust the hood stop to be higher.
Try to create a slightly larger air opening right by the air filter, by moving those two areas.
When I saw the "air box" created outta plexiglass (so easy to shape, cut, etc) it was a great idea!
Thanks Graeme for making me visit Cruisers last Friday.

SWEET....nothen like a little team work huh?

when you saw the plexi-glass airbox was it cutout so the airfilter was covered on the top(hood-side), the right side(radiator-side) and back side(coolant tank-side), to in all it had three sides?? or was the top left open so that the air could get in and only covered on the right and back?? now that i think about it i thinki would probably only want to block the right and backside so i can avoid engine heat. if the top was covered then the air couldn't get in...unless it could sneak in from the front(nose-side). whatcha think. i think an airbox covered on the top, right and back would look bada$$, but think i would block air...

hopefully my description was good enough so you can decode what the he** i am saying.....lol

Let's make it real simple.
Go get cardboard box and make it.
Then make it outta plexiglass!!
You are 100% on the right trail.
NOW REMEMBER, the example I saw was a 1996 Impala.
Not our cars.
But it's wxactly like you think.
Make it from carboarad.
My hood opening is only like an extra 1/2 3/4".
Not really noticable at all. What I've done it take my air box lid, flatten it, NOT REMOVE IT, and I'm cutting away (not done yet, I gotta replace the fuel pump first!!) the underside hood bracing area to get more of a straight shot.
IT works better, tho just by opening the headlamp area more & flattening the box air lid. My filter is finally dirty!!

Guys,
Once I can get a pic scanned of my intake, most of you might wanna try something similiar to it. I have a J-bent, 3 inch universal intake pipe connected to the TB. Then I have a intake that's for some 4cylinder car connected to the j-bent pipe. then at the end i have a K&N cone filter. It positions the filter the farthest I can put it. After I can cut a hole in the battery tray I can make it into a real COLD air intake and not just a cooler air intake.

After I place my piping to go through the passenger side battery tray, and place the filter under the tray the filter will then be sealed away from any hot engine air and will be behind the right side signal lights. This will sort of give a ram air effect as well. BTW my car is a 91 Firebird so I have the different style nose, with the openings for the turn signals below the headlights. I still haven't made the 4" hole in that battery tray yet for the intake piping(haven't had enough time, too busy earning money to spend on my car )

I've thought about that issue. And there's this company that works with cold air intakes and they make this thing that solves that problem. Also I live in sunny So. California, and in my area I really don't get that much rain. Also I can alway return my intake back to its short ram form.
