well i finaly got the hotrod registered so i had no fear driving it around town and showing it off. lol has the typical shales and rattles of a 20 year old car. but im WELL over it lol. So much fun to drive and always turns heads.

so i decided to Pull my heads and port and polish them. iv done it before on other cars but.......i want some advice..anyone done it? do i need to yank off my intake manifold or can i just pull the heads? i have a fricken chilton manual with all my toque specs and shtuff but i OFCOURSE came to yall for advice first

Heres the thread on the heads, there another one on the cam, honestly if you can spend the $$ get a deltacam and ill burn you off a chip that was on my car.

i normally get 300 a set of heads which is cheap considering how many hours go into them.
thats for a full diassemble, clean , port job,chamber mods,valve deshroud , reassembly. if u want say a set of comp cams valve springs and retainers i dont charge anything to install those just pay for the parts and send them witht he heads

see how much it would be to ship them out to me and if its alot i can work a little bit with u on the price

u would have to ship them out to 84713 and i belive the pair of heads is around 47 pounds iirc from the last time i shipped a pair

 

i may consider that..it would take time for me to save up that kind dough..ill talk to the old ball and chain about it lol. but if i decide to do it on my own i hope you will guide me in my endevors

ok so new problem. i took the wife to wallmart a min ago and on the way back i was passin a truck on the backroad to my house. in 3rd and beatin on it all the sudden it smelt like my car was on fricken fire?! no smoke, no fire, temp guage read normal. when i got home it was coming from the passenger side, right in the Cat. area...any thoughts on this? cat was blistering HOT but..a cat usualy is yea?

 

is there anything of fluids by the cat? with it being hot and (ima use cooling fluid as ex) fluid fallin it will steam up and give off alot of smoke. check to make sure there arent any leaks, sounds more like a oil problem so see if any oil residue is on the cat, that might be how the strong smell got to you.

i get alot of smoke when i change my oil becuse i tend to drop some and it goes down to the exaust and when i turn the car on it smells like something is very wrong but its always just the oil burning up, goes away after a while.

Your clutch wasnt slipping was it?? That stuff stinks bad, and will usually only happen when your really on the throttle under a load. Just a though..

You clutch is always being used, the only time it would slip anyways is when you release the peddle and floor it, the Rpms may rise up faster then normal and it will not speed up(Mph) as fast. Its the plates that are in the clutch that are spinning and burning.

 

Green: Deff bro, i belive it would be a pretty extensive prject considering all i could find was the t-tops and the ceneter member i couldnt find naything wether or not our 3rd gen roofs have the brace down the ceneter like his 4th gen did. but i could a ceneter brace on e-bay. so i belive it can be done. plus it was an option on our cars so hells yea it is..

oh and BTW how do we change the gear oil in our trannys? does it have a port to put it in or do wehave to drop it or what>? i think mine is in due of service.

 

theres 2 plugs on the passenger side. from what i hear DONT touch the driver side plug. but there 2 plugs on pass. side. bottom is to drain top plug is to fill...idk how much to put in there and im not positive yet as to WHAT to put in there lol. eddi would know. haha so i flet like proding my roof (from the inside) and im pretty sure our roof is build just like the 4th gen with the brace down the center. so im just just fricken wing it...but before i go spending money in t-tops i wanna buy the things i need to chip my car. ill let cha know lol

 

You just leave the top plug out on the pass side of the tranny and fill it up, its a pain but you fill it up till the fluid starts to come out of the top plug. When fluid comes out, your full!
Its the same process for the rearend fluid if you ever change that.

 

all i own is a fricken honda scisor jack lol. i MUST go buy something..ramps..not that my wife will let me but crap lol im still workin her over for the dang cable and chips. lol

ok 2 new problems. the smell came back. so its after i get on it to hard. idk if yall smoke but when you smoke to far and the filter burns or when you drop a cig on the carpet and it burns. thats what it smells like. my father in law says it aint clutch but it smells likw what i described..and im smells gas all the sudden i aint poped the hood while it was running but im gonna today. but any thought on the burning smell?

I have no idea bro. Look everwhere arround the exhaust manifolds and such for anything burnt. And the gas thing...IDK but you need to figure that out. I dont want you to be a human firecracker

 

i dont wanna be either man ahaha. it seems to be comeing from right were the cat is located but i cant see anything burnt? and i didnt get around to checkin out the gas smell. drove to the store and ofcourse it didnt smell haha

 

is your oil level good? no leaks? maybe a small backfire when you push it full?

 

ok so i finaly found out what the burning smells was..when i rigged up (by rigged up i meant didnt weld) my glasspack muffeler i used 2 types of exhaust repairs kits. one was a red tape which you peel both red sides off and its clear and you get the exhaust hotish then put the clear plastic like stuff wraped and it worked awsome. the other was a clothish type stuff with a glue that was actualy more xpensive. you dip the cloth in the adhesive and wrap it. well turns out it sucked. it burned the **** to char. that was the burning smell. so i went to autzone and chizeled the char off and sanned it down. then i got this other type of exahust reapir that i have used before its like aluminum tape kinda. works great and bonds to clean serfices realy well. working great and no more smell lol. and just so yall know i have the muffelr and out pipe strung up to the car its not held my the exhaust repair its smashed ome in to the other with decending size pipes and the ecahust reapir is just for an airtight seal.

so i went online and found a checklist of things i need to pass inspection seen as my temp reg. runs out tommorow, i paid but i need an inscpetion to get my real plate. heres were i will fail at the moment.

1: 2 of my headslights are secured with zipties...reg. states they just have to be stiff and not wiggle by hand, which they dont so we will see...and they need to be aimed properly..which tere FAR from lol one point up at the tree one points at the ground and the other 2 point who knows were lol..'

2: i need a horn. which i DONT have sence i torn apart my steering wheel...so i gotta find a way to rig that back up

3: i have to fix my wipers..i just put rain-x on it and it worked fine but i guess i need the fricken things to work

4:rear view mirrors need to be easily adjusted, but my post on the driver sid eone is gone...so i gota rig suin up for that to work.

5:exahust emmisions...idk if my glasspack rigged up muffeler will pass..just says it can leak. which it curretly dosnt..just dont look amazing lol..sounds great though

any suggestions to fix my problems?

Strap any mirror on the side of the car for the rearview..LOL some more
And get a mouse to work the wipers? lol.

But seriously, just try to rig it up by any means to pass the inspection.

 

hey check out my headlight thread on body forum. go the wipers fixed just needed lube. steering still ****ed. headlight having issues horn...yet to realy tackel. mirrors workin on now.

But go ahead and load the ADX file into the load definition file tab under Acqusition (this is the 4th tab over on the top)

Load the XDF under the XDF tab (this is the 2nd tab over on top)


Now when you open tunerpro it should retain the files so you dont have to load them again.

Like I said in the PM I'll get more in depth when your cable comes.

Tommorow, im going to try to get my tranny back in the car. So if I do I will take a nice long video of how to put a chip in the car, use that adapter, and how to connect your cable to the car. Its not that hard and once you get familiar and get a routine it will only take a few seconds to connect and read data every time.

 

shweet sounds good brother. so i tore down my steering colmn to try anf fix why it was flopping all around, i spaced putting in a little black plastic thing and now my fricken highbeam/lowbeam clicker dosnt work...Frick my life..dont remember where it goes or how it goes in so that will be NOT fun tommorow..dis/re asseblimg a steering colm with no spring tool or clip tool or sterringwheel tool suuuucks..i get my though loll
