Urgent - 3.1L to 3.4L Question
One of tech articles on the swap says to use a 93 or 94 engine (Camaro or Bird) for this swap into my 92 Camaro. Question is, will the 95 Camaro engine also work since the cross references on Camaro engines is 93 to 95? I have one on order at the local wrecking yard and they are scheduled to pull it on Thursday. I have a choice between a 94 Bird 3.4L with 160,000 miles on it or a 95 Camaro with 100,000 miles on it. So, I told them to pull the 95 to get the lower miles (will be doing a full rebuild though) so a bit nervous because I didn't see it listed specifically for this swap.
My 92 is a manual trans. The Bird is a manual and the Camaro is an auto but I don't think that should be any problem, just a change over of parts....
Thanks.....

You should be fine as long as the 95 isn't obd2. If it is then your going to need alot of electric crap

Re: Urgent - 3.1L to 3.4L Question
I am just doing the block/head/exhaust swap and using the intake, injectors, etc from the 3.1L per the swap tech article so obd1 and obd2 shouldn't make a difference unless those hard parts changed for the 95? So, were the block, heads, exhaust, cam etc. different between early 95 and late 95?

Oh ok. Well I was just thinking simply. Wouldn't he need the wiring harness and ecu?

Re: Urgent - 3.1L to 3.4L Question
The issue with the 95s is the 3.8 was available then. So you can't just see "1995 v6" and say buy it. Might be the wrong one.

The only thing you use from the 3.4 is the block and heads.

Re: Urgent - 3.1L to 3.4L Question
Not that yards don't make mistakes but they sold it to me as an "S" engine, 3.4L from a 95...
I pulled it apart today and the cylinders look really good.. Valves didn't look to bad either but going to take the block in for cleaning and checking as well as the heads for valve job.. Probably going to put in new rings, rod and main bearings, replace the cam, lifters and push rods...
