GOt a question about a 2.8.... any v6 specialists in the house????
A friend of mine just bought herself a 89 camaro rs over the weekend it runs pretty good, just need a little TLC. But the main problem with the car is after a long drive it wont want to even crank after you shut it off. or sometimes itll just die and wont want to crank. have you guys had this problem before? how did you fix it? im thinking a sensor maybe? but im not too familiar with 2.8 behavior. or even if this happened with your v8... i dunno i just need some ideas

Fuel injectors will cause that. As well as a clogged fuel filter.
Try a full tune up first. Plugs/wires/cap/rotor fuel filter air filter. Then start figuring it out. Eliminating the basics will make it easier to find the problem

It would help if you could tell us what you have checked so far.
Age of the battery?
Condition of the battery?
Condition of cable connections?

Thanks for the replies, yeah it has the vat system on the key and the security light does come on, i havent used a diagnostic so i dunno about the codes i havent checked anything yet either. Another symptom she told me about last night is it has really crappy throttle response when she gives it gas it ill take a few seconds to respond. Could it be part of the problem? Or could that be a whole other issue?

this sound slike a vats issue, do u know how to do a vats bypass with a resistor?
do that and see what happens
fix that first sound slike u also have another issue causing the carto die randomly, but if u do have a vats issue then atleast when it dies it will restart and u can figure out the next step in what else is wrong with it

The late throttle response could be intake manifold leak. Or dead spots in the tps.

not a bad video on how to do it, works the same on almost any Camaro.. I think I seen a thread that showed how to do also, by just grounding out the relays it controls..
