PaceSetter headers vs. bolt-on SFCs

Am I the only one here running bolt-on SFCs? I've got the set that runs just inside the side pinch welds. And now I have an issue with the PaceSetter crossover pipe laying right up against the passenger's SFC...

Should I try to get a couple of collector gaskets for the pass side header to act as a shim to at least give me a bit of space between the SFC and the pipe?

Sub Frame Connectors...

And, also, removing them is not an option... There have been enough useless holes drilled in the floor pan that I've had to fill already.

Not sure if I want to grind on the front end of it or not, and denting a 2.25" pipe is certainly not an option.

I've got weld on ones, but Ive heard of the bolt ones getting not fitting up right with the exhaust. Hopefully you have room there to shim it. How close is the clearance that you need???

I'd try shimming. I want to do the pacesetters and bolt on SFC. Let me know what you come up with.
What about header wrap to keep the rattles at bay.

Hey Dan, could you try grinding in the SFC just a little to get the clearance you need? I would try that or beating on the pipe alittle

cut, weld, mod as needed to make them both play nice, metal is fun that way, unlike wood you can just weld it back on.

only consern I hear over bolt in or weld in, is if you want to do any autox or events, weld ins put you into a pro class automaticaly, even if you don't have the engine for it.

Re: PaceSetter headers vs. bolt-on SFCs

Well, as I said above, right now, the crossover pipe is laying right tight up against the SFC, and you and I all know it's going to, at the very least, vibrate like nuts.

Anyone know, off the top of their heads, what a good collector gasket would be? I haven't measured it.

I think I'm probably going to shim the collector first to try to gain some space and then go nuts with a grinder on the SFC just to try to get some sort of clearance, even if it's 1/8" or so. If it ever stops raining.

Re: PaceSetter headers vs. bolt-on SFCs

I had cut the end off my Y long ago to shoot the exhaust down the right side in that valley, instead of the center of the car like stock........
