changed plug wires now won't start......
hey guys, i'm helping a friend with his v6 car and it's being a pain in the a$$. We just changed the wires on this damn thing and now it's acting like it's out of time. the ONLY thing changed was the wires since the plugs rotor and cap were brand new. I've checked the firing order 3 times and the damn thing just refuses to kick over. Any thoughts?

Sure does sound like the timing is off.
123456 firing order with the #1 cylinder starting at 7pm looking at the dizzy from the front bumper? Going arround the dizzy 123456 clock wise from that 7pm starting point.
Passanger side cylinders from front(the bumper) to the fire wall... 135
Drivers side cylinders from the front(the bumper) to the fire wall... 246
It ran fine before you changed the wires? Check them over again but its strange that its doing that now if all you did was change the plug wires.....

that's how we routed the wires, in correct order. We even put all the old stuff back on and tried it and it's still doing the same thing. We're completely stumped as of right no. I'm almost tempted to pull the distributor and reset the end back up to TDC to see if that will help.

Where wires in correct order when you took them off, was dist off and they compensated by putting wires one step off?

I would take the cap off. Inspect it. Match up the dizzy and crank position to #1 tdc. Reset the timing to a base of 10* btdc with the ESC wire off at a normal idle rpm. Then hook the ESC wire back up, reset the ecm and start it up.
Also make sure you didnt mess with any of the wires on accident, such as the grounds on the rear of the passenger head, and also recheck the esc wire, and the wires from the coil to the dizzy and so on.....

make sure it doens't move, my dizzy would turn a hair on it own, run not at all or bad, bump it and runs great, hold down wasn't super tight anymore.

Wrong firing order or #1 is not on the correct post, that would put the rest of the wires also on the wrong post.

Sounds like its bucking from too much advance, and almost seems as if the plug wires need to be moved clockwise one post.
