V6 mini starter?? Where?? Read first post BEFORE you respond.

Searched and all I found were dead links and he said she said....

What mini starters will Definitively work with our 2.8/3.1/3.4? 148 tooth flywheel. 2.8 starter has STAGGERED mounting bolt holes.

DO NOT RESPOND IF YOU DO NOT KNOW THE FACTS.

NO OPINIONS.

Buy some to test them. If they don't work give them to me.

2000+ GM FWD cars used a permenant magnet, gear reduction mini starter on the 3100 and 3400 engines. Might be able to adapt one onto your application.

For my stuff I grab them off the 4.3 S10s and Astro vans in the junkyard for my older 350s and they bolt right on as long as you are running the correct flywheel or flexplate.

350's bolt holes are directly across from one another IIRC, the 2.8/3.1/3.4 have staggered bolt holes so no.

I'm not looking to adapt anything. If you don't have pertinent information on a direct bolt in, don't add an opinion, add facts please.

No offense.

Good luck!! I wasn't saying to use the 4.3 starter rather used it as an example of interchangeability. I said look at the newer FWD V6s as I have messed with them and they look like they might work.

FWIW small blocks can have the starter bolt holes straight across or offset.

I had figured that was the case, but all the ones I came across had them in line.

Just looking to find one quick that may have been used before, cause I can't use the ball flange with the stock starter on the turbo headers.

If not I have to make the headers where the one side is very difficult to remove. Before they were just difficult with the 3 bolt collectors. LOL

Re: V6 mini starter?? Where??

Just get one for a 350 that says it will fit a 168 tooth ring gear. Many performance mini starters will work for either 168 or 153.

Will this fit the 148 tooth 2.8 flywheel? That is neither 168 nor 153.... Do you have a 2.8/3.1/3.4 with one of these starters on it to make sure it works? I want facts here.

I appreciate that, I just dont have the funds to toss around to test a bunch of them.

Re: V6 mini starter?? Where?? Read first post BEFORE you respond.

Fact of the matter is that there are no off the shelf "mini-starters" for the RWD V6.

Anything posted will be speculation, maybe even fairly educated speculation.

If you don't want help, even if it's not 100% known to be exactly what you want, don't create a thread that will be filled with possibilities. Do you own research then, using search engines and existing posts.

Creating threads with these directives only serves to waste peoples time, and frustrate others.
