Upper intake double spacer?

I have read that a throttle body spacer helps higher power band. I was brainstorming and thought hey what about if i stick a spacer on each side in between the upper intake plenum and lower intake plenum. Right in this area. Maybe a one inch space ? What do you guys think will i see some gains?

It has been done and allegedly the results were positive. The guy that did it was also selling them. The benefit is from reducing the sharp transition between the upper and lower. A search here should bring up the thread(s).

Here are a few threads:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/v6/6...d-spacers.html

I used "plenum + spacer" (without the quotes) in the search title. There are additional threads on the topic.

Interesting, runner lengths are very important in tuning any engine, i supose it depends if the mods match your driving style ? Or not. Try it and play around and see for your self id say .

Get some wood and a gasket and then cut some out should be fairly ez with a jig saw and drill fast way to test. You can also get some gasket material and cut your own as you will need 4 total

Yeah i was planning on using wood seems pretty easy. As for mods, i have a few nothing major, ac and smog pump delete, shorter belt. Ram air intake, f1ze injectors, egr delete, aluminum driveshaft, torsen diff. pulls pretty good. Ill be getting back to you guys with my results . I think I'm gonna start with a whole inch.

Re: Upper intake double spacer?

Its not going to help you any.... may look like it does, but it wont. This is especially so with the 2.8 or 3.1l intakes and heads. You could start over and build a new intake manifold to change the runners but as it sits... a 1 inch spacer is not going to give you a noticible effect or change your power band at all with that engine at least...

Re: Upper intake double spacer?

I'm not guna say fasteddi is wrong, because he might not be ! And he has done much engine tuning , but I think it is still worth a try, and wood is a good way to do it.
if it lowers the powerband a little, so the car picks up quicker, bit like putting smaller gears in . It may be noticeable and nicier to drive.
As I said before it also depends on driving style , it may or may not suit you . I still say give it a shot .
