Been dealing with a what i call (Pringle can) type rattle for months now. replaced gaskets on both manifolds and tightened everything up and its still there. it does it once the cars hot and sitting at a stop in drive. any input would be appreciated thanks

 

Can you tell if it's coming from the front or the back of the car? I would say check your exhaust hangars from front to back of exhaust pipes to see if any are loose, missing or broken. Also try smacking the underside of your muffler to see if makes any noise, you could have a perforated muffler and would need to be replaced.

 

Definetly coming from under the driver/passenger seat or front of the car. its not in the back. and its hard to check because it likes to do it when its hot

 

On a cold car jack up the front passenger side and slide a jack stand under it. Now reach under and rap/smack on the cat-con. It is rattling? If so you likely found the problem.

Yeah what RBob said, jack up the car and bang on the cats and also the pipes from mid way to front and see if you hear a rattling sound. May also want to check the heat shields around spark plugs/wires to rule that out.

 

Car does not have cats so thats not the issue. and nothing rattles all is very tight. only thing i think it can be is the heat shield under the pipe running below the passenger seat but idk how to fix them from shaking and obviously cant take them off.

 

The 3.1 is notorious for breaking off exhaust manifold bolts.

 

Car was just checked by and exhaust shop and they replaced both the gaskets and tightened everything. still a rattle. its gotta be a heatshield somewhere idk where else to look

 

Mine did that... the cat was bad / rattling around inside... it was super loud and annoying / embarassing
