If you have an older Advance Auto Parts store in town stop in and have them look at Walker exhaust for the parts to work with what you have. The converter bypass might have to be made up with a length of straight pipe if you' re doing away with the glass pack muffler there.
This system includes the intermediate pipe. This is a 2.5" mandrel bent, aluminized mild steel, high performance exhaust system for a 2.8L/3.1L V6 car.
This is everything you need from the factory Y-pipe back including a new catalytic convertor.
For a possible TBI/TPI V8 engine upgrade later on. Use the clamp below for the intermediate pipe to muffler inlet connection. If you use the included saddle clamp in the kit it will crimp the pipe connection between the intermediate pipe and muffler inlet. It will be a b*tch MFer to try to get it off later on.
You will need the intermediate pipe below for use with a single catalytic convertor High Output V8 engine exhaust system. This intermediate pipe is 2.75" mandrel bent aluminized mild steel that necks down to 2.5" at the muffler inlet.
The intermediate pipe above will convert your Walker 17493 exhaust system kit into a Walker 17495 High Output exhaust system kit for use with V8s that have a High Output single catalytic convertor exhaust system from the catalytic convertor forward to the exhaust manifolds and including the High Output exhaust manifolds and that High Output passenger side exhaust manifold spacer that is always missing when you be trying to buy some H.O exhaust manifolds.

Re: Any suggestions for my new exhaust?
This system will also work on a 1986/1987 LG4 carbureted V8 car, a 1988 to 1992 L03 5.0L TBI V8 car, or a 1990 to 1992 LB9 5.0L TPI V8 car with an automatic transmission or a T5 5-speed transmission that didn't come factory equipped with the N10 dual catalytic convertor exhaust system.
It will be a higher performance cat back exhaust system than what came on these car because of the larger pipe diameter and being mandrel bent.

I installed the walker brand exhaust kit I got from Rock auto today. I can't believe how nicely everything fit together. The install went smoothly, and The exhaust sounds good. I can have a conversation in my car now, and I won't attract every traffic cop within earshot.
Thanks for the tips and advice guys. I love this website.

Re: Any suggestions for my new exhaust?
So what all did you end up getting and installing of the parts I linked?
I knew you already had bought a Walker intermediate pipe but didn't know which one. What part number is it and what did you do with it?
Since you already had the intermediate pipe I had looked into piecing the individual parts together from the kit but it cost more than just buying the entire exhaust system kit.
I bought the muffler and tailpipes separately so I didn't have two Intermediate pipes. With shipping it was still pretty cheap. I still have a leak where the cut off 2.25" Int pipe meets the 2.5" cherry bomb. I'm planning on using a band clamp and some exhaust wrap to seal the improvised joint. It sounds really good already, but I'm getting some exhaust inside the car. Exhaust work is one of my least favorite auto chores, but this job wasn't bad at all.
Muffler and pipes and clamps from Rock Auto I used:
