its me again NO START!!!! :(

I've got a 91 Camaro RS (3.1 V6) auto TH700R4, it started up perfectly yesterday & now all of the sudden this morning it won't. It's about 50 degrees outside here in MD & the car is parked on a slight incline, so I tried adding a little bit more gas to it, but no luck. The motor keeps wanting to turn & it won't kick over. A couple of times it acted like it was going to start up, but it didn't. I have no idea what the problem could be....Someone please HELP!!!!

Check your timming, fuel pressure, put some drygas in it could be condensation.

Check the two posts below that kjrockz started. I'm gonna print them out and tackle my no-start this weekend.

Sounds like we got the same problem. It sounds like its gonna go but ugh, not quite. Tip- dont crank and continuously tap the gas. The backfire scared the crap outta me (and the cat).

Pull any easy to remove plug wire and use a paperclip to check for spark.
IF BRIGHT LIGHTENING WHITE, find another cause of no start.
IF BLUE-ISH WHITE, you've found your problem. Weak spark. Why it's weak, is another answer.
The darker the light/area to check this spark, makes your problem solving easier.
PS if you do backfire, you've got spark, also. BUT, maybe not strong enough to ignite the engine.
Your car should start up right away after a VERY FEW engine cranks. Don't kill/waste battery & starter

Welcome to the world of a bad fuel pump.
Sucks.
Feel for ya, if it's that.
I just did mine, and it wasn't cheap nor totally easy.
Yea, sure can get cold there.
Use the buses, I had to.
You go to U of M?

I wouldnt go for a fuel pump yet.
If you are blowing out black smoke than you are running way too rich on fuel.
I would make sure the connections to your MAP sensor are good especially the vacuum line. A bad MAP sensor will cause the engine to run rich.
A bad fuel pump, you would not be getting enough fuel.

sooo ... umm ..
i also think it may be the timing
i really am not worried about the black smoke
it was only black for a min then it turned white then its was ok
but im worried about how it sounds and how ****ty its a runnin
it runs so rough that its undriveable the idle seems all outta whack and the engine shakes and it acts worse when i throw it in drive and try to go so for now its a 3,500 lb paper weight with oxidizing paint (on corner of hood ). . . it was once a beautiful car tho . . this really sux .. its the only car i got . .

Before you go and change the timing make sure its out first. You want it between 12-13 degree BTC. GM says 10 but every 2.8/3.1 I have seen likes 12-13 MUCH better. Check timing. IF AND ONLY IF ITS OUT BY MORE THEN 3-4* then change it.

15mm bolt. base of distributor on passanger side. Go to sears and get there GM distrib wrench. I welded a 15mm short socket to it and it works great.

Go to a local parts store, find an open shop manual for your car and read it. It has the pics of what is what. If it's wrapped, well, then break the wrap open and then read it.
I do that all the time & it's free!
Your car should not be outta proper timing setting because it "ran" before.
I think you've got bad gas in the tank.

ok. well you need a 15mm bolt opening. So take one of your old 15mm short sockets and have it welded over the bolt oipening in the wrench. Did you check your timing yet? What is it at?

The Distrib hold down bolt is on the passanger side at the base of the distrib out about an inch. Get a rag, put your hand down there and wipe it clean. Then look and feel around for the bolt head closest to your distrib. Thats the one you want.

BTC= Before top dead center.

Clean the timing tab on your engine. Look at the crank balancer and look at the tab the sits to the side and top of it.

Bad gas fix. Hmm get QUALITY NAME BRAND STUFF NOT WALLY WORLD (RAP. Get some gas dry, octane booster.

If you do not have a timing light GET ONE. You will need one for your own if you continue to own cars period. $25 for a decent one.
Do you KNOW you are getting spark? Is the batt low?
