No sillicone Wayne!!!! Just put the gaskets on and bolt it together. Do you have new o-rings??? Also, if you rub a little bit of oil on the o-rings before you put the rail back in your life will be 100 times easier.

Gaskets and gasket sealer are a waste of money.
Just be carefull when you pull it apart that you don't shred the gaskets, and make sure they aren't cracked or damaged.
replacing the injector Orings won't hurt, but again if they're in good shape when you pull it apart dont worry about em.

There's no reason to spend money to replace parts that function as they were designed.

Both tips from Dan & Drew are very correct.
IF you really want to buy gaskets, have them on hand.
BUT you should not have to break any gaskets.
Best tip I can give is to tape your fuel injector wires to identify them.
I went passenger front, Driver front, etc.
Then the wire harness literally fell back into place.
Just observe what ya doing, it is kinda easy.
Detailed, but easy!
Have fun with hoses.
5/16" windshield wiper hose is what you should have on hand to repair any cracked vacuum lines.
YOu'll do great!!

Dammit, I can't remember the part # - oh, wait, yes I can!! Standard SK-10, I believe, is the part # for the fuel injector o-ring kit. I'm trying to picture the box, I think it says SK-10 on it. Why can't I remember things like this for exams??

I wouldn't re-use the gaskets unless you have to...

If you search this forum, a while ago, I posted the colors for the fuel injector connectors. When I swapped my injectors, I used white-out to label each connector for each cylinder # (cyl 1 is front passenger side, NOT front drivers side)

hehehe anyone else familar with the acronym K.I.S.S.? As in keep it simple, stupid. The more complicated you make a project the more likely it is to get screwed up. Replacing gaskets certainly won't hurt anything, but then again I had my 3.1 apart to change injectors 4 times. If I'd bought new gaskets everytime I had it apart I would have had to sell the car after the second swap.

BTW no need to lable the injector wires. There are two banks, so you've got 3 or one color and 3 of another, they all fire at the same time, so no matter how you hook them up they're still going to work the same. Not to mention the harness will have been cooked enough that you could disconnect the harness bend it out of the way and tuck it under something, for three weeks and as soon as you release it it'd pop back into place...

I've had two TPI 350's apart without replacing the gaskets also, both cars run fine. Of course I'm refering only to intank manifold and throttle body gaskets, if you're dealing with gaskets that seal oil, water, etc then replace them. The beauty of L98's, LB9's, LH0's, and LB8's is that the gaskets are easy to get to, if you have a problem afterwards and you think its gasket related, it'd take less than 5 minutes to swap the gaskets out.

True, the first time I took my upper plenum off, the TB gasket broke so I replaced it. The plenum gaskets were fine.

Today when I swapped injectors, both TB and plenum gaskets were fine so I didn't need either. It's an easy job too. Had the injectors out in 15 minutes...had the car back together and running in about 1hr and 10 minutes.

When I did mine I got 2 swithched around on the same side and the car ran like a pile of crap?I was like wtf is up, so I swaped the two connectors around and the motor ran perfect again.Everyone I had asked at work"lots of mechanics there" said they fired in a batch system at the same time. Did gm change the way the 2.8 and 3.1 injectors fired?

Nope, 2.8 and 3.1 did use the batch fire system where every injector would simultaneously fire 1/2 the required fuel needed, then the other 1/2 of the total fuel.

The 3.4 got sequential fuel injection where each injector fires the full amount seperately. This allows the ECM to adjust fuel trim sooner. Of course, if you put a 3.4 in a 3rdgen harness, it will use the batch fire system.
