I used 2.25" adapters in front and 2" in rear. Any less on the front and things would rub/interfere. Front adapters are hub-centric. Rear adapters are hub- and wheel-centric. I made no modifications to the car itself, and I'm running Eibach Pro Kit springs which lower the car 1".

I've had a few set of diffrent wheels on my thirdgens...
My IROC with CCW LM5's in 18x9 18x11

The IROC on XXR 962's

91 Z28 with Firehawk Ronal Wheels

My 92 Z28 on 18x10 XXR's

My 91 RS on 17" BBS's

Thats just fraction on wheel combos I've tried on my cars.

Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims
I've been a long time fan of centerline wheels. I love the "split spokes", I am running 17"x9.5" with a 5.5" BS on the rear and a 17"x8" with a 4.5" BS on the front. If I had it do do again I would run 6.0 and 5.0 BS since my aftermarket brakes bumped the wheels out about 1/4".
I've attached the Centerline box labels if you want more info.
*EDIT
The car has since settled from the photos above, see last thumbnail below.

Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims
They're not as nice as some of the wheels I seen here but I got a decent set of American Racing outlaw II wheels on mine.

I believe they're 15"s I'm looking to replace them since every jeep has these exact wheels

Woah, I realized that I had not replied to this post. I thought I had, but after checking the last few pages.. looks like I never did.
I'm quite partial to these wheels I put on the car in June:
Boze ZE Forged INJECTED
Front are 18"x8" with a 5" backspace and a Nitto 555 245/40/18 tire
Rear are 18"x10" with a 5.875" backspace and a Nitto 555 285/40/18 tire

for full details on measurements, price, details, etc view my other thread below:

Damn, I love this car! I would like to run a 255/40 front and 315/35 rear. Will the 315 fit on these cars and is so, what backspacing? Not sure yet if I'm going with 17 or 18's. I have a 4th gen rearend (Strange S60) and Wilwood brakes on all 4 corners. Running 275/40/17's all around right now. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims
Awsome setup. I have been follwing this thread for a while now. Has any body any pictures of a Third Gen Firebird/TA with the New 10" wide Rally 2 rims. I have been looking but there is not much out there. I know that up until 1986 Pontiac sold base Firebirds with these in 7" wide form. They were usually color modded with a black plastic center cap. I would like to see a 10" wide Rally rim with some bigger meat on there.

Thank you. Honestly, the shade of purple used looks fantastic. Do not feel the color takes away from the car as it is unique and compliments it well. At least it isn't a bright purple or the like. Good buy.
Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims
Those are 15"x8" but they are dished deeper than factory 15"x8"'s,I wasn't sure when I ordered them but I really like them,I think they look better without the trim rings.
Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims
Hey' dont knock it, if no trim rings are good enough for "The Judge" who are we to say anything. Remember, if it doesnt make it go any faster throw if off for weight...
Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims
IMO the best looking rims for the Pontiac's will always be the good old honeycomb rims. Big rims just don't look right on a muscle car if you ask me.
Just made mine shine again.

With some nice 245 wide tires:

PS, just wondering. When i look around on the interwebz, most 3rd gen honeycomb rims look like this:

Which looks like the ones i got, but they are not. Just wondering if anybody knows why?

I always thought those were Snowflake wheels. The Honeycomb wheels came on the mid 70's TA's. They had a 5 sided pentagon shape to the web. Your wheels came on a 3rd Gen GTA I think. The Formula wheels (WS6) were dished a bit differently because of the backspacing. Does anyone know if the GTA line of wheels had a similar wheel design becxause they all had the WS6 package anyways.

There were two different style wheels, the early 86 & 87 Wheel, and the 88-92 Wheel. The later wheel have the dimples, the early ones do not. Your wheels look similar, but there is something amiss. The spokes do not meet at the rim which is really throwing me off... I wonder if what you have is some sort of aftermarket wheel that just looks like the other wheel...

Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims
Actually it is really close, but not quite exact... the side lines are not quite straight, they do bow out a little... But if you look at Danny_VXH's pictures of his wheels that are not the GTA wheels I spotted it, but you have to extend the lines to the points... For some reason the pattern just jumped out at me. So I started looking at the typical GTA wheel and I could still see it...

Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims
Danny, Are those 15" or 16" wheels, I cannot tell.. I can make out 225/60R and it stops there...

They are 16'' and all four of them have an small offset on the back on the rim it self.
The previous owner had put on some 225/60/16 tires on it, i however now added some 245/50/16's on it. The old tires just didn't seem right and on the inside of the doors the labels said correct tire size was 245/50/16 i believe.
At that point i didn't know much at all about 3rd gens.
Its a 1986 Trans Am, this is a picture of the car when i just bought it and took it for a spin for the first time after changing some things 'had been standing still for 15 years in a dry place with these rims in the old dirty condition':

Here are some larger pictures of the wheel it self:

Maybe its just that its the 1986 Trans Am like you said, but then again, something about the rims just look a bit different from what i'm seeing on other Trans Ams.
PS has anybody noticed these Trans Am/GTA rims also look exactly the same as the rims on the 1982 Dodge PPG M4S Turbo Interceptor? Also seen in that old 80's movie ''Wraith''
