The previous owner had put on some 225/60/16 tires on it, i however now added some 245/50/16's on it. The old tires just didn't seem right and on the inside of the doors the labels said correct tire size was 245/50/16 i believe.
At that point i didn't know much at all about 3rd gens.
Its a 1986 Trans Am, this is a picture of the car when i just bought it and took it for a spin for the first time after changing some things 'had been standing still for 15 years in a dry place with these rims in the old dirty condition':
Here are some larger pictures of the wheel it self:
Maybe its just that its the 1986 Trans Am like you said, but then again, something about the rims just look a bit different from what i'm seeing on other Trans Ams.
PS has anybody noticed these Trans Am/GTA rims also look exactly the same as the rims on the 1982 Dodge PPG M4S Turbo Interceptor? Also seen in that old 80's movie ''Wraith''
Not exactly... The picture in the PPG pace car look to be the typical 86-87 Trans Am/ GTA style... Notice where at the outer rim, the spokes meet to make a V... For some reason yours makes more of an X at the rim...
Yours remind me of these, but your wheels do not have the little buttons on the rims
It at least has the same patern it seems... PS such a shame to see that vette like that.
PS these rims look awesome as well. they where going to be on the so called 'Super Duty Firebird/Superduke' And some similar rims are on a some other cars as well. IMO they look pretty sweet

The little buttons are bolts to hold the wheels together. They're an earlier 3 piece BBS design with a gasket or seal in the center of the rim - done back when billet was just a dream of the future.
I have an original set with vintage BFG's that came on my 73 Trans Am - they were purchased & installed when the car was turned into a WOW show car back in the 70's. Personally I like the Cragar Fan Stars on it better.
There are a lot of really nice wheels out there but for me on my car its the American Racing AR-23s. They are clear coated aluminum alloy 9 years old and never requires polishing. Just soap and water.
My rear 8x15 wheel with 255/60r15s

I bought my 88 Camaro with 16" IROC rims. I like how they looked but although the tires have good tread they are dry rotted and cracking around the edge of the sidewall. I found a some SLP ZR1 style wheels in Hyper Black with almost brand new tires for $300.
Thanks
They are made by adv1. They are the tracspec series.
18x9 fronts
19x11.5 rears
I have to check the new offsets, i re barrelled them recently with different widths. I can run a 12 in the back but i wanted to run a 305 without stretching it too much. They cost about 7k new but i dont know if they still make this series anymor

Wow cool thanks for the info. That's way too rich for me. But still awesome looking wheels!

I paid 1600. Ebay find. Im always buying random three piece wheels and changing the offsets to fit my cars. This set was sold stating the outter barrel was damaged. I bought a new one for 150 And changed all four inners for another 600. And i recouped some of my money selling the old barrels. I spend a lot of money on my cars but i try to do it as thriftly as i can. Lol
Bought these for one of my c4s but they stick out. Also the vredestein tires on my old rims are junk so.... oh and it does sit a little lower in the front. Hasn't settled yet from jacking
I'm also going to space out the fronts a little so that the centercap will fit back on.
It's far from clean. Some a hole remodeled the door and fenderlip on the other side. This sides fenderlip also and the rear bumper on both corners. Happened in 4 tries. Don't know who it was but they did a bang up job

Always wondered how a Work Equip type wheel would look on our cars.
I just got this car 2 months ago. 1992 RS 5.0 5 speed 45k miles. Running the oem wheels for right now until I can get something else. Trying to decide between SLP ZR1 wheels or some CCW classic 18's.
I've grown to like the look of the Greg Weld wheels that were on my car when I bought it last month, but I'm most likely going to eventually put factory IROC wheels on the car.
