Is it possible?? I know the outside diameter of my 16in wheel with the tire is about 25.5in...so would it be possible to put a 20in wheel on my car?? I know Ill probably get flamed for this one.....and I know its probably been asked...but does anybody have pics?? thanks in advance....

go for it, it will be cool,but the will only be 4 show with those rims, they wont handle well or ride well. I dont think you will be able to get a 20 inch rims and keep the 25.5 height, just go to a taller tire, they will fit.

 

yeah the only point in doing it would be for show purposes and even then i would think at any half descent (so not complete *****) show they wouldnt look any more highly on a set of 20" rims then a set of 18's. Those 20's would kill your performance and handling, some say even 18's are a lil big for optimal performance 17 seems to be the ideal size for our cars.

I don't mean to say anything disparaging, but I cannot imagine why you would even want rims that that large unless you're filming a hip-hop video. I suppose there comes a point where you must decide, am I just trying to show off wheels I spent five grand on....or a clean ThirdGen that stands on it's own merits.

But the way, the car Dewey316 posted has an absolutely lovely paint scheme. Even the wheels are quite nice, they simply need to be a few inches smaller. There's a Viper around here with the same blue and white stripes pattern....but I must say it looks so much better on a ThirdGen!

i say go for it...i personally wish i put 19's instead of 18's. i'd go with a dish design though as it will look smaller then it actually is because a true 20" in a flat face design like the iroc wheel is a bit much.

the problem your going to run in with a proper sidewall and 20" rim is it will be a taller tire in essence and the looks will make the car sit higher then normal. whatever you decide though i would definately go the same diameter all around. stagered sizes on a thirdgen just doesn't flow well like they do on the old hot rods and vettes where the fenders are cut for it.

Im not sure if I want to...just wanted to get some opinions.....I saw some 22's on a 81 Camaro...and it looked ok. I would be getting a GREAT deal on the 20's....but thinking about ride quality....I think I might just stick to my 16's. Besides, the IROC wheels are my fav....totally 80's. I might put the 20's on my dads 70 Nova..lol Thanks for all the input guys.....

 

I say go for it also. I have 20" KMC Stealths front and back on my '91 Z. I think it looks good, they are big and bold, but at least your car will not look like everyone else's. Dare to be different. I think 22's would be overboard, though.

If they were 15 by 20 drag rims with slicks on them I would say yes (obviously it would need to be tubed ) Other wise 20s should never be on a thirdgen!!!!

I have to agree with kandied, i could bitch-slap me everyday for not ordering 19 inch rims. So, if you go for something like we got, don't even think about 17's.....

 

I like the look of some good ole rubber. I'm not sure where we all got away from that. It looks WAY out of proportion to me.

That was pretty ... um ... ugh. (what does the wooden cart have to do with thirdgens anyway?). I also agree that 19's are the biggest I would go. For me personally, the 18's fit nice with the stock body, but the 19's would match reeeaaal nice with the K1 Evo II kit. (19x9 front, 19x13 rear).

Hey FlynLow, did that 4th gen console just fit in as easy as it looks? I need a new console bad...13 yrs of putting my elbow on the center armrest has taken its toll...lol

 

It took me about 2 hours worth of work....just cut, test fit, cut, test fit....you know the drill.......

i think a 20" wheel with a dish of some sort being at least 2" might look "ok". 19's on the other hand are sharp but would be extremely pricey for tires and praticle road driving....i love my 18's but even then i sometimes worry driving with them. they just look so nice that size though.

well either way good luck with your decision...i definately think 20" flat faced wheels would look out of place though. it really depends on the wheel. i was told these are 20's...i'm not sure though.

I personally wouldn't go over 17", but we're all different, and that's a good thing. My problem is that so many people decide they want bigger wheels, without deciding how they want the car to look. You have to take the time to research the stance you want. You can't have any old 18" look good, but different suspension, with different rims all makes the overall car look different.

Mr.IrocZ may very well have the best looking thirdgen IMHO. The wheels fit the stance perfectly. I know it's my opinion, but Irocs weren't meant to be chrome. It ruins the wheel.

In the pic with the IROC replicas that Abubaca posted what size are those? They look hugs, also what finishe are they? They look like an anthricite/polished combo, is it the lighting? I personally want to get either polished or silver 17" IROC replicas. Depends on the finish of the polished cause I hate chrome on rims.

you can launch just fine on 20's,19's, 18's, etc...it all depends on the tire. obviously the wheels heavier so it isn't the brightest idea for racing.
