SLP's response about a wider zr1- 3rd gen wheel

Thank you for your interest in SLP Performance Parts.

The decision to offer the new ZR-1 wheel in a 17 x 8" size grew out of our
desire to make the wheel a direct bolt-on for as many applications as
possible. Based on customer feedback, however, it would appear that there
may be a viable market for larger sizes as well. As a result, we are looking
into the feasibility of offering the wheel in a 9.5" width. It will likely
be some time, however, before such a wheel becomes available.

Thanks again for your interest.

To little to late. I wanted 9.5 x 17, 5 on 4.75. Center Line, Eagle, American Racing and all others said sure, you betcha, in two months. Vintage Wheel said one week, took them two. I now have their V 40 wheel with BFG G-force 275r40x17 at all four corners and I am a happy customer.

I called up and e-mailed SLP the day I saw their ad in CHP... gave me the same exact answer. They are probably as bureaucratic as GM.....

slp rims are a direct fit for thridgen's no spacers required. not sure what spacing that is though. i also like the rim wish it was a bit wider.

I have Vintage Wheels V-40, 9.5" x 17" with 5.5" backspace. My 89 GTA has 4 wheel disc brakes. 89 rear brakes are differant from 88 and before. The wheels just clear with about a 1/8"gap on the front, no problems with rear parking or hydraulic lines. The 275/40/17 BFG G-Force KDWS tires do not rub. The tires stick out just a bit more than stock from the fender . My only complant is that the low profile, wide front tires follow road grooves and cracks that can jurk you around alot. With sub frame connectors, lower control arms, adj. panhard rod, strut tower brace the ride is firm and positive. The wheels seem wide for the tires, I would consider a 9" rim with about 5 or 5.25" backspace, if it could be found. I would post a picture but don't know how. Hope this helps.
