Re: Got Vette Wheels??...Post pics here...!

Please help me!!!! I have a 4th gen rear but it seems that I still need spacers because the inner tire rubs against the body just a slight. Anyone with 4th gen rears still needed spacers? Also the studs are too short so anyone with 4gen rear and spacers how big of a spacer and how long of studs?

Re: Got Vette Wheels??...Post pics here...!

What offset do you have? You could use a hammer to beat the inside down where its rubbing. I have an extreme offset at 79mm but I did a mini tub and offset lcas. If you need a spacer got to a rim shop and start with the smallest and work your way up. They are pretty cheap. If you go to big though you need adapters because you will run the risk of breaking the studs.

How did you get the 18x9.5 to fit the front? And the 19x11 to fit the rears?

Thanks, I did a rough measure with my corvette wheels and I estimated a 2.5" spacer if I want a 9.5 inch wheel for the fronts.

Finally got pictures of mine. 2 inch adapters up front and 2 1/4 inch in the rear. Still have some rubbing in the rear against the body. I'll get the hammer out and fix that though. Love the look and get comments often. If you're on the fence about doing this upgrade, just do it.

Did you put a 5.0 badge from a mustang on your camaro? I know it's a free world and all, but that's just wrong....

Yes, I did... I put them on back in '91 and just never took them off. At the time, Chevy had nothing for me to put on. They had the 5.7 TUNED PORT INJECTION and just TUNED PORT INJECTION on the back of the Z-28's.

2.25in rear? What is your backspacing. I run 18by10.5 with 305's and I have 1.5in spacer

grampaben, I have 255/40-18 up front and 275/35-19 on the rear.

CamKid1992, I don't know what the backspacing is. I just researched and listened to what eveyone else has been doing. The lady I got the wheels from said they are off of a '05 Vette.

Re: Got Vette Wheels??...Post pics here...!

Actually, the 5.0 badges aren't too bad at all. It is similar to having a 9" rear end. I'm on the fence about this upgrade, but it's just because I am running low on money (especially for the price of 19" tires).

Re: Got Vette Wheels??...Post pics here...!

Homer23, thanks for the compliment.

It was tough to part with $832 for the tires. I paid $400 for the wheels, $130 for the adapters and can't remember what I paid for the mounting/balancing. I bought the tires from Discount Tire Direct and they had, and still have, an $80 rebate on the Hankook's. That helped lessen the "pain". There's a set of wheels just like mine on Craigslist here in Charleston for $325 OBO. I had Weld ProStars on her since '95.

Also, after looking at all these sweet pics it makes me want to upgrade to some decent disks brakes all around. The stock brakes are especially ugly with these wheels.

Got the same set waiting to go on my 89 GTA. You gonna leave em silver or paint them? I'm thinking about painting mine a dark gray, or flat black.

I was literally thinking the same thing! I think for now I'm just Gunna leave them silver because they're still in such excellent shape. The PO had them plastidipped and when I peeled it off the rims looked brand new! I just wanna get them on for now and then I'll decide what to do as far as painting. I might even recoat them with plastidip because it preserved them so well. NJ winters are getting worse and worse lately. But I'll post pics if I make changes in color so you can see what it looks like. Good luck with the install though. Apparently some fender reshaping is in order. I went with 2" spacers up front and 2.25" in the rear. I'll let you know how it turns out. I'm also lowered 1.5" as well.

Re: Got Vette Wheels??...Post pics here...!

Got them mounted and balenced this week. Their 07 vette rims. Staggered 18" by 245's up front and 19" by 285's in the rear. 2 inch spacers up front that fit no problem. 2.25" spacers in the rear that required a lot of beating and some grinding to fit. The wheels are tucked up nicely in the wheel well though and with the 1.4" drop springs I think it looks great. Sacrificed some ride quality though. I'm looking to upgrade my struts and shocks next!

Spacers are 1.5's rear, 2.5's front.

Only issue I see is, the 245's on the front are right at the minimum fit for those 9.5 wheels. 255's might be a better size for that rim width.

Re: Got Vette Wheels??...Post pics here...!

I'm planning on upgrading my wheels this winter. Going with C5 ZO6 17x9.5. Seems like the majority are running 2 or 2.25" spacers up front. Just curious where you are getting the spacers from. I saw Hawks has a set and also motorsport-tech.com. Any input would be helpful. Thanks!!

I have exactly the same set up. 17x9.5's. I have 1.5" rear and 2.25" front.Running 275x40 rears and 245x45 fronts. Il could have gone bigger on the rears (maybe 305's) without rubbing.

I got mine off e-bay. Here's a link to where I got mine.: http://www.ebay.com/itm/CHEVY-S10-CA...00260157497%26

I have abused them pretty well with no problems. Just make sure you follow all instructions to the letter on them.

WORD TO THE WISE: Have an extra $50 or so sitting around, as you will likely have to replace your wheel studs. (mine were too short to extend all the way through the nut and spacer). DO NOT run on studs that are too short. They WILL break. It's better to put studs that are too long, then cut them to the right length.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering if anyone else had the Ebay adapters and how well they hold up. Makes sense to upgrade the studs too.

For the rear I've got a 4thgen LT1 rear axle so it's wider. I'm also using a 1" adapter along with rolled fenderlips. If you're running a stock thirdgen rear I'd try a 2.5" adapter in the rear and a 2" in the front and be willing to pick up another pair of adapters if that doesn sit how you like it. Oh yeah, rear tire size. I've got a 295/35-19 which is a little (I think an extra inch?) taller than factory heigh tires. I'm using sportline springs in front with a half coil cut and stock WS6 springs in the rear with 3/4 coil cut.
Hi iansane, I know this is an old post but I am trying to figure out why I need to add a spacer for my 19x10 rear vette wheel when I'm running a 4th gen rear? Most posts I have read say you don't or just a small spacer. I figure I will need to run a 1 1/8" or 1 1/4" to get good clearance from the inner wheel well even with a 4th gen rear. I'm not sure what year the car was that the rear came out of but it has a torsen diff. From what I've read torsen didn't go in till 99. I beleive 98-02 rears are smaller than 93-97 rears. What do you think? Should I only use a 1" spacer. I really don't want to modify my wheel well, I just don't have time for that. Thanks!

i have the original rear end and i needed 2 1/2" spacers and then i needed the fenders rolled and a bit of "massaging" of the inner well at the front inner lower corner of the wheel..

Re: Got Vette Wheels??...Post pics here...!

I need some opinions guys & gals. OE Wheels has two sets of rims on sale, so I figure now is my chance to finally get some 18" wheels for my car. The problem is I have been looking at this all day and can't figure out which I like more for my car.

First off, here's the link to their site in case any of you might be interested in some new rims. http://oewheelsllc.com/Wheels_3/Wheels-for-Camaro_4

Here's my car...

Here's the first wheel:

(18" Fits Camaro Corvette C6 Deep Dish Wheels - Gunmetal 18x10.5 / 18x8.5 SET) This set is about $40 cheaper... not that it makes a difference

Here's the second wheel:

(18" Fits Camaro Corvette C5 Deep Dish Wheels - Black 18x10.5 / 18x9.5 SET)

So, any input would be appreciated. By the way, the car is getting Tokico Illumina shocks & lowering springs.

Get the ones you like the best. If that doesn't help, flip a coin.

Or, if you race it, get both sets, one for your slicks/competition tires

Thanks for the input Homer. I'm leaning towards the C5 rims.
