Anybody every buy wheels from 3rd Gen Ranch???
I am looking to buy a new set of 91-92 Z28 wheels. Anybody know what the wheels from 3rd gen ranch are like? These are the wheels I am looking at possibly buying...

I know that these wheels are originally machine finished and these are polished. Not certain if that matters. Just wondering if anybody knows much about these wheels are has had good business w/3rd gen ranch. These wheels are all pricey, and hate to spend so much money w/o seeing them.

These are the other wheels I am looking at, but $300 more. Appears they keep the original machined finish.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Trying to find the best wheels for the price.

I have not bought anything from thirdgen ranch but from what I hear you can do no wrong from buying from them. Hope this helps.

I second that Thirdgen Ranch is a great company. very reasonable on price and they are like House of Camaro you can find the small parts when you need them. I would go with the polished stock wheels before paying that much for oem knockoffs. you could always get a set from someone on here and just meadia blast them and re clear coat them and you may save around $100 or so but not sure if you want to (It's a little work but not much)

bump. Still have not decided. I like the Detroit wheel version because they are machine finished. I like the Third Ranch because they are less expensive. Not sure what to think of the polish finish. The picture on their website is difficult to judge the wheels buy? Think I will be placing a order this weekend...

I have bought plenty of items from Denny the owner of ThirdGen Ranch including two sets of polished wheels. You won't be disappointed in his ability with polished rims. They will be perfect. I am including pics of my rims.

He also can ship them anywhere so don't worry about location.

WOW!!! The polished 91-92 wheels are amazing looking. I wasn't looking for a new set but it looks like I just about to spend 500 bucks.

Ya, those are nice! Thanks for the pics. I think I would get mine accented in the standared stock grey, but my car is Ultra blue metallic, I wonder what it would look like with blue accents in the wheels...

Got some OEM rims from Detroit wheel and tires, they are real nice. Also got some firestone firehawk wide ovals, they are very nice tires

Re: Anybody every buy wheels from 3rd Gen Ranch???
Andre, refinished factory wheels like those generally run $200-$250 per wheel. The wheels on your convertible were done by a place like this. They basically re-machine the surface and then paint and reclear them.
I've had quite a few sets of refinished wheels like these that were on cars for a few years. Unfortunately, I've never seen one yet in good condition after that amount of time. All of the wheels I have seen (including your convertible) have a VERY thick layer of clear on them. The clear looks to be at least two to three times as think as on factory wheels. They almost look like they are dipped in clear instead of painted. Over time, the clear starts to loosen from the wheel and comes off in large chunks and they end up looking terrible. Take a close look at the wheels on your car and you'll see what I mean.
With a thin layer of clear you just get small chips and scratches. Unfortunately, with a think layer, the clear often cracks and comes completely off the wheel in large pieces. They look good for awhile but don't hold up very well.

Damn Denny...thanks for the bad NEWS...MY CONVERTIBLE RIMS LOOK GREAT (RIGHT NOW)...so the future is not good for them em...hom much time or miles do you think I have?...I will have to really baby those because $800 a set is out of my price range...even my future price range...lol
Maybe somebody else on here has had a set and had similar problems and can give you an idea of how long they held up.

I wonder if brake dust has anything to do with them? I do know that if they are not pre treated right prior to clearing that the clear will peel off. I think it is some form of powder coating just before paint.
Well I need to enjoy thhem now because they are perfect.
