will 98-02 z28 rims fit on a 91 rs?

I know this thread has been done to death but im in a serious time crunch.

A guy has some 5 spoke rims from a 98-02 that he's selling with good tires and i am thinking about getting them for the 91 i just acquired that has ugly rims and wont go more than 10 miles before a tire blows.

i can get the rims i like with tires for cheaper than i can buy tires for the ugly rims i don't like.

so i need to know without a shadow of a doubt that they will fit my car before i travel the distance to get them and become out of pocket.

the rims are an hour south of me, the car is an hour north of me, lots of driving for a "DANGIT!!!"

you know...

ugly ones on car now

ones i'm planning to buy

You need adapters to run any fourth gen wheel on a third gen. Unless you swapped for a fourth gen rear, then you would only need front adapters. I believe 2" are the ones you need, but you should search around to make sure.

eckkk.... 70 bucks for 2 of them...

that's disheartening. i don't particularly love the rims, their just, better than what i have on it. i really don't want to put new tires on those crappy rims.

Yea you better REALLY like them to spend the money for adapters. Another option is to find some clean IROC rims or 91-92 16x8 wheels. That would be your best bet for a direct fit and a reasonable price.

If you buy the adapters they work with any corvette replica wheel or any other 4th gen wheel

Re: will 98-02 z28 rims fit on a 91 rs?

yeah, lol... basically, this dude has those rims for 350$ i talked him down to 300, they have 70% tread left on the tires, and have a warranty with discount tire, so..... it's worth it to me to get 4 rims and good tires, MORE SO than buying 4 tires for the crappy rims i have on it..

especially for the same price..

but adding 140$ to that, is not worth it.

i DO need new tires though, i cant even get the car back to austin without them. just trying to do it on the cheap.

and yeah, i've been looking around for the stock type rims for it, but in the last 24 hours have been largely unsuccessful, but is pretty much what i'm going for overall.

well i take that back... i can ORDER them, or buy from across the US somewhere on ebay.... i meant, no luck locally, but i'm about to revisit that search...

91..... can you verify that it's 2" ? considering we have or had the same year car?

just found a good deal and thought i'd ask around

Re: will 98-02 z28 rims fit on a 91 rs?

oh......... and with the 2" spacers, do the stock 4gen rims hit anywhere in the wells or fenders?

it's always easier to ask than to be pissed off when it happens after spending all time and money...

The 2" adapters should work fine and the wheels I'm running don't need adapters so I'm probably not much help

Re: will 98-02 z28 rims fit on a 91 rs?

Actually with 2 inch spacers you can run those wheels, and it may seem like a lot of money to get something that rolls, But those 4th gen 5spoke wheels actually look relatively decent on these cars. Regardless, you can get them cheap with rubber and wahtever you're rolling.

The thing with the 2 inch spacers is you can move up to some corvette wheels later on if you want to and keep those spacers. Or you can sell em to someone else wanting to run newer wheels on their 1st/2nd/3rd gen F-body. So dont think of it like they're only useful for just those wheels. There are a LOT of wheels out there that will work with those spacers, like any newer Corvette wheel. Check out the corvette wheel thread if you want to get an idea. It's not a dead end expense. It facilitates a lot of options.

If you just want something that rolls and doesn't look as bad as what you have, remember any F-body wheel from 67-92 will work and any S10 wheel. You find some old rally wheels, they'll work. You find some S10 work truck wheels - they'll work.
