Good tire size, stock 15x7

I have 225/70R15's on the back, and 205/65R15's on the front, $20 is what it cost to have them balanced. I got them as new pulls off of junk cars for free, my father mounted 'em and we had them balanced.

Anyway, I was wondering what others have run for a good tire size. I tend to corner quickly so I need something that will grip well, in all conditions too, 'cause it doesn't rain here much, but when it does, it's like someone fire hoses the whole town for about an hour. Traction be gone, I have literally done a 360 in my third gen 'cause of the rain.

215/65R15 is the stock size, but they look a bit tiny, and frankly I didn't like the way the set we had on that car handled.

I don't mind offset tire sizes, as seen now. Though I'd love to get some matching white letter tires, larger rear than front, the current setup does pretty good but I'd like something larger in the front, 205/65's are too small, but they where almost free. Though I can't find any matching tires and I don't really like mismatched tires on any car, especially with one that I drive as hard as my third gen.

So, what's the recommendation for all season all weather tires for a third gen with factory 15x7's that gets flogged regularly?

Remember if you change the rear tire size too much it affects the speed the computer thinks the car is going and it won't be able to compensate. You may need to change the speedo gear. The only (?) other tire size that may work well without other mods and fit the stock 15inch wheel is a 235/60. 1010tires.com for one have a tire calculator that lets you compare sizes.

235/60/15 looks great on our 15x7 wheels. Perfect height too.

Are those 235/60R15's on your Z28 ZED28?

By the way, I like the paint, I was thinking of doing something similar to my RS, 'cept the body kit will be black, and obviously the car will stay red.

And yeah I know, 225/70R15's are 7.5% bigger than 205/65R15's. I used this calc:

Ahah, I have found the tires I'm going to get, they're very affordable through a site my father found. Personally I like the white letter tires like these, I would get the coopers, but my brother has 'em in 215/65R15 on his '92.

Yeah I saw that, saw your car in a google images search of 235/60R15 Third Gen Camaro,

I'm probably going to use these tires:

Front:

Rear:

I think it will look good, I love white letter tires.

Here's mine prior to me getting aftermarket wheels and tires...I used 245's all around with no issues.
EDIT: Wish you were local...I have all four wheels with tires BF Goodrich Excentias (P245/60R/15's) mounted and balanced with lug nuts for sale...like NEW and the wheels are in good shape too!

Re: Good tire size, stock 15x7

I don't currently have the money for tires, otherwise I'd consider that even factoring in shipping. Wheels are a dime a dozen, but, mine aren't that nice

I won't be looking to buy tires 'til about fall, I just wanted to review options. I'm trying to make a budget for fixing my car. So far, so good, thanks to Third Gen. There's so much wrong with my poor car.

Many times, after digging through my car for something, I find smoething else that the previous owners did... Which leaves me pondering...

Being a prior squid (retired), I feel your pain (I've lived in Norfolk)...maybe check out you r local Craigslist to see what pops up. I've tried selling everything I have for 250 bucks, but no takers. ....

I can find better wheels, they aren't a priority right now though. The tires will need replacing within a year, they've got good tread, for now. I should be able to find some wheels by then. I think my wheels might polish up good but I dunno, guess I'll find out.
