Who makes good tires for our Camaros? And size??
Who makes a good street tire for a Camaro with 16'' Stock Wheels?
Should I stick with what it came with from the factory which I think was the Goodyear GSC Eagles or is there something better out there?
Also should I keep the stock size of 245/45/ZR16 or should I go a little wider like 255/45 or 265/45. I like the look and feel of the Stock 45 thickness and dont want to go any lower like 40 or 35. You feel the bumps too much that thin, so how wide can I go until I get tire rub or is too wide bad and throw off the cars handling? Let me know what tire set up's you guys have

As TPIvette mentioned, stock size is 245-50-16 (245-45-16 was a Porsche 911 rear size).
Here's the bad news - the only summer performance tire you can get today for your car in 245-50-16 is the BFG g-force sport comp 2, Goodyear just discontinues their overpriced tire and is on closeout at tire rack. Not sure if GY is going to replace it with anything else at this point. Sure you can get the Firestone tire, but the BFG is much better all around in every way.
Good news is that the 225-55-16 tire size fits on stock 16" wheels perfectly, even if they are spec'd 20mm more narrow than 245-50-16 OEMs. There are over 20 different high performance tire patterns in this smaller size. Keep in mind that a 225 tire on a 8" will give a lot more sidewall stability and will be much more predictable than say a 255 width tire on the same size.
The real deal is to upgrade to 17" or 18" wheels & tires - for a few reasons:
1) Massive tire selection in any width and profile
2) Ability to fit most modern big brake kits
3) Optimal sidewall to width ratio (perceived spring rate)
4) The look of less tire with more wheel

First of all, you cannot buy Goodyear Gatorbacks in 245-50-16, they haven't made them in over 10 years now.

are you just looking for tires that fit, or do you plan on some autocross/road course type stuff?
because i just got a set of 245/50/16 Hankook Ventus V2 tires on my car, and they do a pretty good job of holding the car off the ground and riding nice and quiet with good wet and dry traction... haven't tried any real spirited driving with them since my suspension is worn out, but i've read nothing but good reviews online... and they were only $420 installed at the local Cenex coop store..

I'll try and post some pics of the Firestone firehawk tomorrow. There a great tire at 245/50/16. The tread pattern looks killer too.
The iroc wheels are always a good choice if the price is right.

Re: Who makes good tires for our Camaros? And size??
Looking into a set of the BF Goodrich g force sport comp 2 or Firestone Firehawk wide oval indy 500 tires.. BFG is rated #1 and Firestone is at #3, so they're pretty close. The BFG tread looks like it might handle better in wet conditions and in cornering. I can't argue that the Firestone tread does look a little more aggressive. I looked at the Goodyears there's only 7 left at tire rack. The tread to the Goodyears didn't appeal to me. It would be cool if they could come back with their Gatorback's with a newer version. Hear that Goodyear get back to work!!!

As long as BFG keeps making their tire, I'll keep buying them. I've used the G Force Sport tires on all of my cars, and they're a fantastic tire.
